We were incredibly intrigued by the new aesthetics of the studio 30ph (stands for 30 pairs of hands representing the students working on the project) collection that we mentioned already in our womenswear best-of. The label is the student project of the HTW university and focuses their work on ethical fair trade eco-fashion. This year they presented a collection only made out of pure untreated cotton. The results are unique garments for all kinds of situations and all kinds of body shapes and ages. Our photographer Olga was not only taking photos backstage, but was also one of the designers creating the outfits. We clap our hands to this fantastic result and look forward to shows in the upcomming seasons.

Berlin Fashion Week has passed by once again, and this bi-annual style extravaganza brought us lots to look forward to with the amazing Autumn/Winter 2015/16 Womenswear collections presented. Featuring an interesting line-up of local and international designers, this Fashion Week focused on providing a platform for lesser known talents and up-and-coming contemporary brands. Fashion Week filled the city with stylish parties, impeccable street style, and of course, fashion shows that set the bar pretty high for the years to come. We reviewed the Womenswear collections and gathered the 8 that caught our attention. Click on to see which designers made the cut!

Berlin Fashion Week has come and already gone, which means I finally have some time to make sense of the menswear madness of this season. Men’s Fall/Winter fashion has never really been a draw at Berlin Fashion Week, but this January there were definitely a few shows who made it the perfect fashionistas catcher. From upcoming designers who raised the bar, to impeccable classic designs, and to the occasional ‘wtf?’, Berlin Fashion Week was again a great surprise. After a marathon through shows and some catching up online, I broke down the 8 Best Menswear collections that mattered most this season. Enjoy them after the jump!

The first show we visited during the Berlin Fashion Week was the runway show of Sadak. We were really happy for our friend ‎Saša Kovačević that he got the chance to show his colorful and extravagant menswear at the Berlin Fashion Week for the first time. His style is a bold mix of archaic folklore patterns and decorations and hip hop cuts. For sure his fashion is extremely unique and worth keeping an eye on. We sent our talented photographer Olga to take some backstage photos for you. Enjoy them after the jump.

SADAK

Like every season I HEART BERLIN is bringing you the ultimate Berlin Fashion Week Guide with all the notable events and parties with a special focus on emmerging talents and avant-garde designers. The majority of the events in this guide are public or have an open registration so that all of you fashion fans can join regardless of your professional credentials. Enjoy!

This season we would like to give a shout-out to a couple of designers that will be doing their first shows in the official Mercedes-Benz tent, as well as in surprising off-schedule locations. We are looking forward to see our first show of one of our Berlin favorites SADAK, of course the show of our dear friend Esther Perbandt, the man who is probably the buzziest name in the local fashion scene right now and who will be the first one to show inside of Berghain: Bobby Kolade, and we are also excited to see the new collection of Vektor. For all the fashion professionals we recommend all of these mentioned shows, so make sure to get accreditation for them. Our listing of public events you can find below.

For more guidance at Berlin Fashion Week we also recommend you to download our iPhone App Friendly Berlin and check out the routes “Berlin Designers” and “Fashionable Berlin”.

The 10 Best Menswear Collections of Berlin Fashion Week

In my eyes this Fashion Week edition was outstanding. Throughout the week I took a look at most of the Spring/Summer 2015 menswear collections presented during Berlin Fashion Week, picked my 10 favourite collections and rounded up two of the best looks from each. All the looks seemed very accessible to me with a high wearibility factor and a strong sporty vibe. Even though designers played with different fabrics, shapes and designs, it is quite easy to identify a few strong trends for next summer. Overall the creations were very relaxed and in neutral colors white, black and grey and just the occasional pop of bright colours in the different shades of blue and red. Check out the key pieces from Berlin Fashion Week’s strongest menswear collections and start looking for inspiration for new outfits after the jump!   read more…

Berlin Fashion Week Special: FIER Vitrine

Berlin Fashion Week Special: FIER Vitrine

Our third special recommendation for you for the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week goes out to the FIER Vitrine. Our friends Nico and Lisa from FIER management have been quite busy in the past couple of years supporting the independant and alternative young designer scene. For their new event on Tuesday, July 8 they have curated an impressive line-up of young international avant-garde designers who will present their new collections in the form of fashion presentations, performances, screenings and installations at the amazing Lehrter Siebzehn location near Hauptbahnhof.

In support of the awesome new iPhone travel app Friendly Berlin that we are currently working on we asked the guys from FIER management about their most interesting places in Berlin for the fashion-savvy explorer and they came up with a really great Fashionable Berlin Guide that you should check out here or download the Friendly Berlin iPhone app here. It’s a really good list of interesting shops and places that will come in handy during Fashion Week.

After the jump we will give you a preview of the ten participating talented designers from the FIER Vitrine event and party on Tuesday. If you are into innovative and artistic design this will be a must-go event for you. Make sure to register for the guestlist now.

Berlin Fashion Week Special: Berlin Fashion Film Festival 2014

Berlin Fashion Week Special: Berlin Fashion Film Festival 2014

Christopher Walken in ‘Made from Cool’ by Martin Werner

For our second special we have teamed up with this year’s edition of the Berlin Fashion Film Festival that is going into it’s third round next week on July 9 and 10. It’s impressive how the little festival has developed into such a big thing in such a short amount of time. This year they host several public screenings at the Arsenal Kino during Berlin Fashion Week on Wednesday where you can see fashion films with famous Hollywood actors such as Christopher Walken, Javier Bardem, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, and Jessica Chastain. Not bad, huh? You should get your tickets here. And to put a cherry on top they invited famous Russian artist Andrey Bartenev to give a runway presentation of his bubbely sculptural design performances at the award show on Thursday evening. That’s going to be a mad affair for sure. Some preview videos, more photos and details, and your chance to win tickets for the screenings after jump.

Berlin Fashion Week Special: Anaglyph

Berlin Fashion Week Special: Anaglyph

For the upcoming season of the Berlin Fashion Week we have partnered up with a couple of alternative fashion events in our continuous effort to support young designers, avant-garde fashion and new ideas in Berlin. The first of these special events that we have selected is called Anaglyph which is also the name of a collective of young creatives from different fields who will present the results of their collaboration with an elaborate 3d stereoscopic runway show. The whole concept does not only connect people from different cultures, but also brings interdisciplinary work to a new level by combining the fields of fashion and shoe design, photography, 3d and video art, screen-print and illustration, choreography and music, embroidery and crochet, as well as hair and make-up art. We are particularily excited that our friend Anto Christ is going to be part of this with her amazing make-up and crochet work.

The Anaglyph event is going to take place on Saturday July 12, 2014 at Heimathafen Neukölln, with the first show at 18:30h (invitation only) and the second one at 20:00h (public, free entrance) with an aftershow party at 21h at Sameheads. Join the Facebook event to keep updated with the details. After the jump we have a teaser video and some previews for you.
