Waldbaden: A Guide to the Best Nature Hikes in and around Berlin

When it comes to green spaces and parks, we all have to admit Berlin is one of the best big cities in Europe, if not the world. We are blessed with endless amounts of both tiny and large parks scattered around the city, and some forests here and there. As we might know the most popular ones already, there are many places in and around Berlin that are worth seeing and ready to get discovered.

We came across Waldbaben on Instagram, an account that recommends one of the best hiking and cycling routes in Berlin and Brandenburg, and we obviously could not ignore it. The name translates to forest bathing, which has nothing to do with swimming, it’s more a metaphorical description of immersing in the forest. With its motto “Love, Light, Leben”, Waldbaden promises to introduce us to some of the nicest and most secluded hiking and cycling routes that might have fallen off the map. We picked some of our favorite routes for you, but of course, you find many more on  Waldbaben.

Bad Saarow: Deep Jungle Walk

From a primeval forest to Germany’s largest land dune and secluded bathing areas, everything is right here! This path takes you through wild clay pits to the Großer Kolpiner See and to the Storkower See with gorgeous swimming areas. You will find adventure and relaxation between forests and vast bodies of water.

The path meanders through marshy meadows, alder quarries, coniferous and mixed forests before reaching the shores of the Rahmersee and Wandlitzer See. A jump into the cool water is guaranteed.

Beeskow Spree: Wildly romantic!

Immerse yourself in the Spreewiesen and Spreebögen nature reserve in the south of Beeskow. In a picturesque landscape between wet meadows, pastures, and lakes, you can let yourself drift the whole day. Quiet meadows invite you to picnic and you can stroll and eat comfortably in the historic old town.

Schlepzig: Lovely Spreewald

What a pleasant round trip from Lübben to the fabulous Spreewald village of Schlepzig this is. This enchanting hike over meadow and dikes on dreamy paths starts at the castle in Lübben and leads in a leisurely round over numerous rivers and streams to a well-deserved break in one of the most beautiful villages on the Spree.

Neuendorfer See: Take me to the most beautiful lakes!

This cycling tour takes you to some of the most beautiful and crystal clear lakes in Brandenburg. The chain of lakes in the south of Wendisch Rietz is always worth a trip. Lake by lake, each one more beautiful than the other. Wide views, secret forests, and lonely bathing spots to dream about make this region very special.
