Welcome to the ‘C/O Berlin Open House – hosted by Airbnb'

I’m sure that for many of us, Airbnb has completely changed the way we travel and experience cities and places over the past few years. Airbnb has opened doors to private homes, people’s lives and otherwise hard to reach places, giving us a more immersive travel experience than we could have ever imagined.

For some time now, Hosts can not only offer their homes on Airbnb, but also experiences. Just like the many unique stays on Airbnb, these experiences are offered by Hosts around the world who offer their guests authentic adventures for every conceivable interest.

A new format in partnership with C/O Berlin takes this local experience one step further: the ‘C/O Berlin Open House – hosted by Airbnb‘ is the first event of its kind, with which C/O Berlin and Airbnb want to contribute to rediscovering Berlin’s cultural scene, which has been restricted for so long due to the pandemic. And all this with free admission.

For those who don’t know, C/O Berlin is an exhibition house for photography in the Amerika Haus in Berlin. The exhibitions held here regularly experience a lot of hype and attract people, not only from Berlin, but from all over the world. At the ‘C/O Berlin Open House – hosted by Airbnb’, which will take place for the first time on December 2 between 11 am and 10 pm, you can visit the current exhibitions of American photographers Lee Friedlander and Peter Miller for free.

But that is by no means all. During the day, there will be free guided tours of the exhibitions at 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 p.m. (duration: about half an hour each). And as a special highlight, the renowned American photographer Joel Meyerowitz will give a digital lecture streamed in the cinema hall, where visitors can learn more about his work as a pioneer of color photography and street photography.

In addition to the event ‘C/O Berlin Open House – hosted by Airbnb’ there is now also a specially designed experience on Airbnb to book. In the new experience Close-Up – Rediscover Photography with host Uli, guests can learn more about the history of the exhibition house, the exhibiting photographers, and the historic Amerika Haus in which C/O Berlin is located. First dates for this are December 18, 2021, January 8 and 22, 2022, and February 12, 2022; they can be booked here. The tour will be offered in English and German.

For the visit of the exhibitions as well as the lecture the compliance with the 2G-rule applies, including mask obligation (medical or FFP2 mask). More information about the event is available here. Pre-registration is not necessary.
