BERLIN NOIZE is a complete audiovisual work on the nocturnal atmosphere of the German metropolis. The exhibition combines tracks by the electronic music producer TRU. with photographs, videos and texts by the artist _4.x to create an aesthetic of noise.
The space is filled with buzzing and clacking, glimmering and flickering. Analogue noise seeps out of cassette decks, video recorders and tube televisions, tangling with mechanical noise and electronic sounds. The visitors drive the confusion of images and tapes forward. They play, stop, rewind or sink into the unpublished photographs of the series “less noize” – 24 still lifes in front of locked Berlin club doors, taken during lockdown. Paradoxical sceneries – as beautiful as they are melancholic.
The French techno pioneer Laurent Garnier praised the music of TRU. with the words: “Absolutely love the album!”. The exhibition follows on from this impressively.
