The Cocktail & Movie Night has become a beloved tradition, where you can discover new films and mingle with friends and strangers in a relaxed atmosphere of electronic music amidst the flair of the Staatsoper most beautiful room. Our special treat: A signature cocktail from Żubrówka, served free of charge to all guests before and after the screening and matched to the film of the evening.
Alma & Oskar – a movie that transports us into the world of the Fin de siècle
With ALMA & OSKAR by Dieter Berner we show a film about the artist and composer Alma Mahler, who is looking for her place in the world and society after the death of her world-famous husband Gustav Mahler in 1912. As Alma loathes social conventions, she begins a passionate affair with the controversial expressionist Oska Kokoschka, in which different lifestyles collide. Oskar regards Alma as his muse and he is overly jealous and possessive. Alma on the other hand has ambitions of her own as an artist and composer during a time when that’s not customary for a woman.
