Every second, a truckload of used textiles is burned or disposed of in landfills worldwide. The driver of this
scandal is fast fashion. Today, 60% more clothing is bought because of fast fashion, but it is only worn for half as
long as it was 15 years ago. It has transformed fashion from a commodity into a consumer product and made the
industry the second biggest polluter after the oil industry – not to mention the working conditions. So far, so well
known. Less well known is the part that logistics, especially online logistics with its immediate promise of
fulfillment, has played in this.
We will be making a 16 m long Truck out of Textile waste, hold Workshops where you can learn tufting and
weaving, have a few panel discussions with designers and political activists.
