”In C” by Sasha Waltz & Guests is a colorful excursion into the world of minimal music. Based on Terry Riley’s revolutionary and open composition of the same name from 1964, Sasha Waltz 2021 began a novel artistic process together with her dancers. They developed choreographic material that follows a similarly variable structure and therefore leaves room for ever new variations. “In C” is an experimental, constantly evolving process that rethinks Sasha Waltz & Guests’ longstanding approach to their work and the dialogue between dance, music and space, both digital and analog.
After the digital premiere from Radialsystem in March 2021, several live performances of “In C” followed, including the premiere with live music by the New York formation “Bang on a Can All-Stars” in December 2021. In January 2022, “In C” was nominated for the 15th edition of the virtual nachtkritik-Theatertreffen.
