«Hermanas Brujas» is the upcoming new live work by KDV DANCE ENSEMBLE, led by Puerto Rican choreographer, director and artist Kianí del Valle. A ritualistic choreographic ”happening” on the hunt for healing & cleansing, driven by communal female mysticism. HERMANAS BRUJAS is an homage to the religious fusions that occurred in the Americas after European colonisation with the unique merging of catholicism & aboriginal spiritual practices. As a result of this amalgamation of beliefs, new religions like Voodoo and santeria emerged among others. This choreographic work seeks to create a new form of performative ritual, juxtaposing Caribbean, Latino, Native American and European spiritualism, history of sorcery and cross cultural mysticism. Commissioned by Radical Sounds Latin America Festival with an original live sound score by acclaimed Dominican musician producer Kelman Duran.
“Hermanas Brujas” will premiere on November 18th, 2021 at Silent Green, Gerichtstraße 35, 13347 Berlin.
