Kudur is a music and performance-focused party series organized by the trans/queer PoC members of the collective of the same name. Kudur serves house/pop music with Middle Eastern, Balkan, and Mediterranean influences. We define Kudur as a queer melting pot for all tastes and music genres.
About Kudur:
The Kudur collective came together out of a shared love of Turkish pop and an appreciation for Middle Eastern and Mediterranean musical cultures. The Mediterranean region has spawned a multitude of civilizations and languages over time, and we are inspired by the idea of crossing the boundaries between genres, borders, and generations. Through our events, we seek to illuminate the intersections of music, culture, and politics. The sonic/cultural map we seek to draw reflects the fluidity of exchange. We connect with a growing dissatisfaction with the prevailing hegemony in Berlin’s party scene and as a non-profit and volunteer-led community of artists, ravers, and creatives united by an ambition to create a space of expression and a healing environment.
Our events aim to create a safe and inclusive space for queer, trans, and BIPoC individuals and their allies. This free event is designed to bring our community together in the spirit of celebration, empowerment, and support. We believe in fostering connections, promoting visibility, and amplifying the voices and experiences of marginalized communities.
We draw inspiration from José Esteban Muñoz, who writes in Cruising Utopia, “It’s important to lose yourself in dance, or to use dance to lose yourself: lost from the obvious logic of heterosexuality.” At our events, we put together an exclusively BIPOC, non-binary, queer lineup. As queers and people of color, we believe in the transformative powers and potential of art and sound.
