‘Drag queens take your mark, the dancefloor is now open’ (‘Latina Acrylica’ T-Total, circa 1998)
While still riding high on the vibes from their latest shenanigans in March, they have also been busy creating their next gathering on Saturday May 20th Spring is slowly starting to creep up on them and they are praying that the weather will be warm enough so you can enjoy their 2nd outdoor dancefloor, ‘The Candy Flip’ to the max.
They are pleased to announce that Vio PRG will be gracing their decks outside from 00:00 til 04:00am with her refreshing blend of bouncy house, sexy disco and filthy bass chuggers.
For the main floor – they are celebrating Elninodiablo’s release of his latest EP, ‘The House Of JuJu’ which drops on all platforms on Friday May 19th. As ever, drawn towards the furthest spaced-out, low-slung side of the experimental house spectrum – think Andrew Weatherall’s adrenaline fuelled psychedelia laced with hints of sedated EBM and mutant new-beat triangulations, Elninodiablo has them surfing a tidal wave of 303-powered disco, tendinous bass manoeuvres and off-kilter patterns spanning a wide range of influences, from electro to Italo, afro-funk through acid, pop and electro. To mark the occasion, Elninodiablo will be delivering a 5-hour DJ set, starting at 10pm – 03:00am, premiering some of his own productions and taking you on a multi-genre musical journey you won’t forget. Come early, grab a cocktail and get into the groove. Hint: Come early as he hear rumours that there will be some freebie LTD edition collector items available for those who ask. As ever our delectable resident DJs, Adam Munnings and La Schmock will bring their two tons of fun – playful and fierce as ever to keep you in loved up euphoria til Sunday lunchtime.
Expect some more high octane, jaw dropping performances from their hosts – Gutter Gucci, Nancy, Alvin and welcoming their beloved sister, Phoenix back from South Africa, after their 7-month absence. Your gender bending, freedom lending, love bursting excuse to let loose
Let’s make love
LUNCHBOX CANDY (LbC) – biog
Lunchbox Candy was born among friends and creative collaborators within the music, film, visual arts and the queer, drag and non-binary performance communities in Berlin, so it has a very intimate family-affair vibe.
The spark took-off during the filming of Elninodiablo’s eponymous track, ‘Lunchbox Candy’ and its in-your-face queer punk music video directed by Adam Munnings.
Their crowd is extremely diverse and we are always delighted to welcome the whole spectrum of queerness and age represented, coming together and blending so effortlessly.
LbC gatherings are all about finding that intimate connection with our community and creating a unifying field on the dancefloor. We embrace and facilitate both the light and the shadow, the joy and the struggle, the euphoria and the release people can experience while dancing.
On any given night you’d expect to dance to cosmic, psych & italo disco, Balearic house, vintage inspired 90s house and techno, break-beat, tons of live percussion, electro and a good dose of EBM and driving dark-wave disco.
They endeavour to create a space for people to feel completely safe and open to radically express their creativity with their personalities and looks. To be free to explore sexuality and gender, meet like-minded people and keep building our colourful community. They want people to leave Lunchbox Candy feeling amazed, inspired, connected, nourished and elevated. And most of all to fall in love with themselves.
Elninodiablo and Adam Munnings are the co-founders, creative directors and promoters of the event. They couldn’t have done it without the help and contribution of their amazing hosts and performers (Phoenix Chase-Meares, Purrja, Nancy Grrl, Sudha Kheterpal, Rainer Sellien, Alvin Collantes and Artis) to name a few and last but not least a huge nod to their fierce door whores Mark Gilleran and Abbey Walker, plus their incredible core crew.
