Get ready for Joy Ride, the biggest ever solo exhibition of Rory Midhani’s work to date. Berlin-based transman and visual artist Rory Midhani has been making art for and about Queer Berlin for the last 10 years. This October he will be taking over the GlougauAIR Project Space with his colourful body of work, capturing a decade of queer life in Berlin. Bringing together artworks from both his professional and personal life, the space will become a celebration of queer & trans existence in our dear city.
This vibrant show will dive deep into the heart of Berlin’s Queer community, as Rory unveils a treasure trove of personal drawings from his diaries. Alongside these intimate sketches, expect to find new and never before seen canvas paintings that boldly celebrate Queer and Trans identities in all their glory. But that’s not all—Joy Ride will also feature a dynamic collection of posters created for LGBTQI+ organizations, parties, and events, with a special focus on Berlin’s legendary nightlife.
There’ll be scenes of queer life such as demonstrations, parties, rallies, cruising bars, festivals, lake days, doctors appointments, dancefloors and dates. Jump on in and ride through a euphoric journey of Queer togetherness in Berlin and beyond.
Join us for a drink at the vernissage of Joy Ride on Thursday evening, hosted by the wonderful Eddy Entropy.
There will be a costume competition where anyone coming dressed in an outfit inspired by one of Rory’s paintings will receive a free goodie bag (Containing a 2025 calendar and other fun stuff), and have the chance to win a Grand Prize!
