Just over two weeks and we’ll be taking our sound system back out to host you at our beloved stomping grounds, Studio dB. This time round we’re honoured to feature multi-faceted artist & extensive selector Baba T behind the decks, as well as join forces with two figures of the Berlin House Dance community for a special workshop & session.
As the key figure behind London-based radio show and dance night Don’t Touch My Fro!, Babajide Tikare aka ‘Baba T’ has fostered a platform that celebrates Black diasporic music in all its forms. The carefully curated line-ups (featuring many of our favourite artists) he’s been co-crafting and the attention to detail speak for themselves – we feel that this will be a truly inspirational link up.
As a DJ, he’s been bringing his dynamic sets to some of the most cherished dance nights in London and elsewhere, balancing the nostalgic with the cutting edge. If you need a taste, we advise you go and run up the recording of his performance at Errol’s residency at The Carpet Shop from last year – a truly spellbinding musical journey.
Joining him are SHUSH residents Ken Okuda and Orlando Rosé, stretching out in a soulful way as usual, bringing with them a healthy stash of new discoveries. Lastly, we’re excited to have Berlins House Dance community on board for this function. Dancer & educator Alessia d’Isanto will be offering an introductory class, with dancer & DJ Achraf Lansari providing the steppers’ soundtrack early on.
As we’re trying to keep entry as accessible as possible, we’re offering two tickets: A discounted one (10€) , as well as a ‘supporter‘ ticket at a slight extra cost (15€) to help us throw these functions sustainably. Extra income will go to the artists directly – we appreciate your support if you can afford it.
Food & records / goodies will be available on site.
See you in the dance
