The togetherness gives us a deep sense of belonging – a place to call home and a space of healing. Together, we have not only embraced our true selves but also overcome our preconceived notions of who we can be. We reject a superficial existence; within each of us resides the desire to thrive and soar.
Navigating the identities we carry in this world is no easy endeavor, and it never has been. Ballroom represents resistance in the midst of struggle – a powerful transformation of pain and injustice into beauty, creativity, and strength. This community exists because we persevere. Even when our way of loving or existing is faced with criminalization, discrimination, persecution, and stigmatization, we choose to BE and keep going.
