Naked Solidarity has slipped into our DMs and we asked a few questions on the occasion of the release party for their new calendar.
But who and what is behind Naked Solidarity?
Naked Solidarity, founded by activist Mascha Leskien, started in 2021 as a solidarity and photography project. Triggered by feminist literature, the questioning of her own privileges and the confrontation with sexist structures, inspired Mascha to combine her feminism with activism, she explained.
With her project, Mascha is doing important educational work combined with feminist art. She not only offers a platform, but has also been able to build a safe space and a community for people affected by discrimination since the start of her project.
By selling her art, such as the naked solidarity calendar, which will be published in its fourth edition on 21 December under the motto “Flinta*s take up space”, Mascha is able to financially support organizations that stand up for marginalized groups.
While at the beginning it was mainly friends who were pictured, today the calendar is filled with people from the entire community. The calendar symbolically shows nude Flinta*s naked down to the face, natural and strong. We asked Mascha what she advises people who feel triggered by the photos, she recommends: “Deal with why you feel provoked. Question your initial reaction. Talk to others about your thoughts and feelings.”
You can find the new edition of the calendar at the release party this Saturday at Bi Nuu or online on the naked solidarity website. Take a look 🙂
