In the House of ASOS

Imagine this antique Grecian temple where mystical rituals happen and a supreme divinity is adored. Well, if fashion is a God the headquarters of ASOS are its temple. Or where else in the world do hundreds of photo and catwalk video shoots, design sessions, trend discussions and editorial meetings take place at the same time in the same place. A busy busy place opened its doors for us during our trip to London and we where more than amazed about the tons of impression we got in just one day. We talked to the head of design of the menswear devision about the developement of ASOS, the press guy showed us the new collection, the marketing lady introduced us to the new Urban Tour menswear campaign and we had lunch with the head of the German branch ASOS.de whose in-house nickname is simply “Germany”. To share our experience we took many snapshots, to get an impression take a look after the jump.

WEISSE MAUS Immersive Dining Experience

The original Weisse Maus was one of Berlin’s most notorious late night spots during the Weimar era. Renowned for it’s exclusivity this Cabaret had only 98 precious seats and the guests would wear a mask to hide their identity. The Weisse Maus was known for hosting some of Berlin’s most raucous and debauched entertainment. Such as the infamous Anita Berber and her dancers of the damned.

Now exactly 100 years later we pay homage to this time of creativity and artistry from the modern day Libertines and free spirits of Berlin.

The Peepshow at Wilde Renate: A Glimpse into a Sensual Fantasy

Tucked away in the depths of the Salon Zur Wilden Renate beer garden lies the Peepshow, a glimpse into a ruby fantasy.

Between the currently closed club and the self-service bar stands the peepshow box, so unassuming, from afar that you could even miss it on any casual evening downing beers and having a smoke. Luckily, tonight you’re a bit more curious, and on a second glance, you notice little cutouts looking into the box, each with a small vagina plastered underneath and a sign that says “tip the slit.” Just before 20:30, a voice announces to the crowd over a megaphone that there are 2 tickets left for the 20:30 peepshow. Buy one. Buy the other for your friend if you have a spare five euros.

Berlin is… a Circus

It is very hard to sum up what the city is in a single world. However, I believe that circus is the best one to describe Berlin. Apart from the endless colorful and striking aspects these two places have in common, Berlin reminds me of a circus, as the latter has always been a place of acceptance and respect towards creatures that stand out for the one or the other reason. Everybody is welcome there regardless of their story, their past or present.

Very few cities can boast such a variety of beautiful, relatable and wild facets, like Berlin. I can go out on the street, however I please and nobody will look at me funny, not because this great big city is rife with anonymity and indifference, but because Berlin stands for respect to the very essence of human nature. It constantly reminds me of the great potential that there is inside each and every one of us as well as the liberty to put it out there for the entire world to see.

A Mannequin Challenge at a Berlin Sex Party

What you might have missed though is the mannequin challenge the whole Bad Bruises crew, that organizes the parties, has recently shot. If this does not make you feel butterflies of excitement in your stomach and the need to learn more about this talented group of people and their vision, I do not know what could then. I personally expected Jessica Lange’s Elsa Mars from American Horror Story to show up owning it as always.

Berlin’s Renaissance of Debauchery

When you think back to the 1920s Berlin pretty much had a reputation for debauchery. For decades the world thought of Berlin as this sexually free and wild place where everything is possible and no phantasy was forbidden. But the time of the separation of the city changed things. Other things were more important to rebel against. There was still always a highly sexualized underground scene, but it was not really in the center of attention anymore.

In recent years this changed. Nightlife in Berlin is embracing its wild, naughty and sexually liberating side again with parties such as Pornceptual, Gegen and The House of Red Door. Debauchery is back and more excessive and scandalous than ever!
