Cinéma de Mode: The Visit

Cinéma de Mode: The Visit

Earlier this year Katja shot this charming fashion film for my Designer Scouts project featuring the designs of Berlin-based labels Esther Perbandt, Von Bardonitz, Moga E Mago, Augustin Teboul and Sadak. The video was commissioned by the Fashion & Art Toronto Festival for their Focus Germany program and it was a great way for us to show the work of our Berlin designers abroad.

The film, titled The Visit, showcases a diverse range of avant-garde fashion in a very unexpected setting while making a tongue-in-cheek statement on the quirks of dating behavior of our modern society. Have a look after the jump.

On Friday we previewed our German designer export program that we are doing with our project Designer Scouts at the Fashion & Art Toronto Festival in Canada this week. Participating labels Moga E Mago and Isabel Vollrath were showing a fashion presentation and an installation at Merkezi. And we also screened the new fashion film by Katja Hentschel that was specifically created for the festival in Toronto. After the jump you will find the impressions of the preview event on 2 pages.

We Heart London’s East End

Urban Tour London

This past weekend we went on an Urban Tour for ASOS and explored the “Kreuzkölln” of London: The East End, including Shoreditch, Hackney and – most importantly – Brick Lane. This small but famous street and its surrounding sidestreets and alleys are known and loved for its numerous vintage shops, fleamarkets, urban art galleries, famous street art sights, curry houses, as well as for its multi-cultural inhabitants, young creatives, fashionistas and hip tourists.

On a sunny day we wandered around the area taking photos of the most interesting things. We found charming little cafes, the work of familiar street artists, cool fashion boutiques and much more. Come follow us on our photo tour with many recommendations after the jump.

SKYY SWAP MARKET - Pt. 3

On Friday night my Designer Scouts partner Gina and I had the honor of being the hosts of the SKYY SWAP MARKET that took place for the third time at the beautiful Stadtbad Oderberger. Many of the designers that we have been working with for our fashion events donated a few pieces from their collections to the market and the guests of the event were able to buy them or to swap them with their own vintage clothes. After the swapping there was a concert of the band Jeannel and an after party with DJs Isabell Polak, Vladimir Karaleev and Hugo Capablanca, as well as way too many delicious SKYY cocktails. All proceeds of the evening were donated to the local HIV charity Berliner AIDS Hilfe e.V.

Many impressions of a great night after the jump on 3 pages.

Moga E Mago - Designer Scouts at Achteinhalb

Wow, Fashion Week is over. It was a hell of a lot of work and stress, but it was also an amazing, exciting experience once more. On Wednesday we started right away with one of our big events with our Designer Scouts project. The Grand Opening at Achteinhalb with fashion presentations by Von Bardonitz, Moga E Mago, Umali and Twenty(2)too as well as a video installation by Franzius was a big hit. We were stunned at how many people came by during the night and we are really proud at how amazing all the collections and installations came out. Sadly, we couldn’t use our flower runway outside due to the unexpected rain that came up. But that wasn’t even so bad because inside we were treated with lovely finger food, mini flower cupcakes and the delicious Martini Royale drink. After the jump you will find some impressions of the preparations and the after party by me, and of the actual show by Katja Hentschel.

Berlin Fashion Week Event & Party Guide

Next week is Fashion Week here in Berlin, hurrah! For us it’s definately one of the most exciting times of the year, especially since we are doing five events of our own this time. But as you know most of the events during Berlin Fashion Week are not even public but only for fashion professionals (and those who manage to sneak themselves in). But there still are quite a lot of events and parties that everyone can go to and we want to give you a little guide of the best ones. On top of that you can win a few copies of the brand new fashion book Berlin Catwalks.

Seven days of fashion, pick your favorite parties, exhibitions, sales, shows and events after the jump.

shoe by Aoi Kotsuhiroi at NJAL

Shoes. Shoes. Shoes. OMG, shoes! That’s what Kelly would say now. But this is not about trash, it’s about serious fashion. The Berlin-based design network The Offer (Von Bardonitz, Tata Christiane, Moga E Mago and many more) is calling for creatives to design runway shoes for their next fashion show at the Fashionclash in Maastricht. Think of it as a sophisticated DIY project for shoe fanatics. The best shoe designs will be used for the runway show. The winning designers will even get special prices. Berlin Fashion Week Guide

AND_I at Edged Pop-Up Store

This week is all in the name of fashion with the Berlin Fashion Week going into its next fall/winter 2011/12 season. Once again the week is brimming with exciting events from showrooms, fashion shows, designer sales, exhibitions and parties there are countless opportunities to get your daily overdose of fashion.

We have selected our favorite events of the week that involve designers that we like to give you a practical little guide to navigate safely through the week and see the best of avant-garde and street fashion during the day and strut your style at the hottest parties at night. As usual a part of the events are for invited people only, so to get in after all you either get back in touch with your old friend who now interns at agency X or you put on your fanciest dress and most convincing attitude for the girls at the guestlist. All the events after the jump.

While you are hopping from one cocktail reception to the next you should try to get your hands on the daily newspaper by BerlinFashion.tv because my lovely co-authors C.R. and Suz have once again contributed a couple of articles for them.
