A Guide to Italian Lifestyle in Berlin

A Guide to Italian Lifestyle in Berlin

The best thing about Berlin is, how it consists of cultural pieces from every part of the world. Some further some closer. Italian culture is most definitely one of the most established ones here. Our friends from  Berlino Magazine, a Blog run by – and written for Italians in Berlin, decided to create an event that lets you enjoy the wonders of italian cuisine and culture for 72 hours, which is called True Italian and it happens this week Wednesday bringing you all these Italian goodies to your tastebuds. We got inspired by this and thought it is about time, we created a guide to true Italian lifestyle in Berlin just for you.

There is so much more to it than Pizza and Pasta (don’t get us wrong, they will always be our best friends). Find your way into art, music, food and fashion from Italy in Berlin.

Win Tickets for the Berliner Liste with Absolut

It’s Berlin Art Week and the city has never been more full of amazing art! It’s in fact so much art to take in that you will definitely need a drink in between. Luckily, the Absolut Art Bar will be at your service this week at the Berliner Liste that’s taking place at the stunning industrial cathedral of the Kraftwerk.
Last year this art program by Absolut already took place in Berlin twice and we had the pleasure to curate our very own hot pink Art Bar with Italian illustrator Nicola Napoli here at Blogfabrik as some of you might remember.

For the new edition the Swedish vodka brand invited local artist Clemens Behr to create the Art Bar for the Berliner Liste art fair. For his installation titled Noasis he will incorporate the concrete aesthetic of the Kraftwerk where the event takes place and break the harsh structures with tropical greenery. We are looking forward to see the final result in the coming days at the Berliner Liste. And of course also to taste the special cocktail by the same name that was created in collaboration with the artist.

The Virtual Berghain Trainer

The Virtual Berghain Trainer

I wonder if there is any other club in the world that has people so invested into getting in or not like Berghain. The notorious door policy of the famous techno club, the long lines, the much feared getting-bounced-part. All of this kind of created a whole genre of internet entertainment all dedicated to (ironic or serious) tips on how to pass the strict door men, how to dress and how to behave inside. For us old Berliners this has taken almost comical proportions, but I can’t help it, I still enjoy all of these little projects and articles about it, even though I personally haven’t gone to the club in years.

So here is yet another one, but quite interesting, as it used new technologies that I haven’t seen yet in this form. It’s a virtual Berghain trainer that simulates the door situation (minus the long cues and the actual bouncers of the club) through an interactive video…

The Cutest Illustrated Guide to Getting into Berghain

The Cutest Illustrated Guide to Getting into Berghain

If Berlin were the solar system, Berghain would be the sun for a looooot of people. Some days it seems like everything and everybody is circulating around this place. Throughout the weekend and sometimes on Mondays, I see tons of  people wandering through Friedrichshain and over Warschauer Straße, magnetically drawn to Berghain. And as mythical as the place is, as various are the myths of how to get in. In various Italian blogs I read absurd guides on how to be let in by Sven and co. One of the most common (and silly) assumptions is that you have to look gay to get in. But there are many more false assumptions about what the doormen of Berghain like and what they don’t.

A very funny and unique clarification of the myths out there is this cute guide created by talented illustrator  Sophia Halamoda. In 28 drawings she presents her own tongue-in-cheek wisdom of how entering Berghain works. Enjoy the hilarious illustrations below.

If you enjoy the comic you might want to check out our new book Like A Berliner which we did together with Sophia. The Berghain Comic is inside of the book as are many other amazing club stories and comics about the life in Berlin.

Absolut Art Bar: Berlinferno – Photos

Absolut Art Bar: Berlinferno – Photos

After weeks of preparations and anticipation it was finally time to reveal the Berlinferno on Saturday at Blogfabrik. Young Italian artist Nicola Napoli has created a huge artwork for the Absolut Art Bar series that is a tongue-in-cheek response to all the criticism Berlin has received lately and an interpretation of all the worries and fears that Berliners have about the changes of their city.

For this event we turned the Blogfabrik, our new co-working and event space at Kottbusser Tor, into a pink inferno full of eccentric fantastical creatures. It was so much fun to change up the place and re-use all the modular furniture, it was almost like a play-set for grown-ups. It was such a pleasure to work with Nicola who has such a creative mind and so much wit, and also with the guys from Absolut who proved yet again what a modern and progressive brand they are by letting us create a world around our idea and message. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable collaboration!

We were super happy about how everything came together in the end and how many of you showed up to the opening to have a drink with us. We also want to thank our super charming live act Heather Sparx who gave a great performance filled with her joyful synth pop tunes and lots of good energy and glitter, and of course to our DJ teams Rydim & Ricardo Esposito and Dada Disco who both played the most amazing music for us. Enjoy the photos after the jump.

WE ARE BERLIN – A Group Exhibition presented by iHeartBerlin

photo: Katja Hentschel

Berlin is not made of its museums and monuments. It’s not defined by its architecture or geographical features. Berlin is not only about its history or its bad weather. Berlin is not Germany, it’s the entire world in one place. Berlin is made of the diverse, colorful, creative, grumpy, carefree, poor, hard-working, clueless, happy and lost people that live here. We are Berlin.

Today we would like to proudly announce our new group exhibition WE ARE BERLIN that will be open to the public from September 17th til 24th 2014 at a brand new venue at Leipziger Straße 60 with a big exhibition party happing on Saturday, September 20th 2014, in conjunction with our 7th Anniversary Party. The exhibition brings together the works of many of the creative talents that we have featured here and worked with over the past 7 years, as well as contribitions of our fellow bloggers including iGnant, Dandy Diary, Pieces of BerlinFinding Berlin, Paperboats and Pornceptual.  More about it after the jump.
