The final Days of Achteinhalb at Kollwitzstraße

The final Days of Achteinhalb at Kollwitzstraße

Achteinhalb has been around now for quite a few years with numerous pop-up stores and events in Berlin and other German cities. In the fall of 2010 they opened their first long-term store at Kollwitzstraße in Prenzlauer Berg. For one year they sold the best of Berlin fashion including labels we love such as Esther Perbandt, JULIAANDBEN, Franzius, Blame, Reality Studio and many more.

Earlier this year the shop changed their concept back to their original time of  8 1/2 weeks with their new Living Concept. Instead of fashion they are now selling a well curated selection of furniture and home accessories. The 8 1/2 weeks are coming to an end this week, so it’s time to take your chance to pay the store that has been host to a series of iHeartBerlin and Designer Scouts events in the past year a final visit.

We will surely miss the cosy place at Prenzlauer Berg and are already anticipating future projects of the makers of Achteinhalb. More photos and details after the jump.

Moga E Mago - Designer Scouts at Achteinhalb

Moga e Mago – photo by Katja Henschtel

Wow, Fashion Week is over. It was a hell of a lot of work and stress, but it was also an amazing, exciting experience once more. On Wednesday we started right away with one of our big events with our Designer Scouts project. The Grand Opening at Achteinhalb with fashion presentations by Von Bardonitz, Moga E Mago, Umali and Twenty(2)too as well as a video installation by Franzius was a big hit. We were stunned at how many people came by during the night and we are really proud at how amazing all the collections and installations came out. Sadly, we couldn’t use our flower runway outside due to the unexpected rain that came up. But that wasn’t even so bad because inside we were treated with lovely finger food, mini flower cupcakes and the delicious Martini Royale drink. After the jump you will find some impressions of the preparations and the after party by me, and of the actual show by Katja Hentschel.

Berlin Fashion Week Event & Party Guide

Next week is Fashion Week here in Berlin, hurrah! For us it’s definately one of the most exciting times of the year, especially since we are doing five events of our own this time. But as you know most of the events during Berlin Fashion Week are not even public but only for fashion professionals (and those who manage to sneak themselves in). But there still are quite a lot of events and parties that everyone can go to and we want to give you a little guide of the best ones. On top of that you can win a few copies of the brand new fashion book Berlin Catwalks.

Seven days of fashion, pick your favorite parties, exhibitions, sales, shows and events after the jump.

Couture Eggs Vernissage

Couture Eggs Vernissage

Last night we transformed the Achteinhalb Concept Store into an egg carton battlefield for the vernissage of the Couture Eggs. It was a lot of fun to observe the people trying to safely step over the uneven terrain to reach the eggs (and the boys with the drinks). Thanks to Thea and her team for the great idea and execution of the installation. And of course thanks to all designers for their beautiful eggs and for the people who bid on them for our Charity Auction. Also thanks to the team of Achteinhalb and to the drinks sponsors Veltins who are raffling off another Couture Egg object by Parsival Cserer on their facebook page, as well as Absolut Vodka and the delicious lemonade and maracujanade of Lemomaid.

The auction for the first set of eggs will continue until tonight around 22:30-23:30. Make your final bids now for a good cause! The auctions for the second set of eggs will be online until tomorrow (Saturday) around noon. After the jump you’ll see a lot of impressions from before, during and after the vernissage.

Chocolate bunnies, colorful easter eggs, fluffy yellow chicks. It can no longer be ignored: It’s the Easter week. As you know this season we will replace the kitchy Easter eggs we painted in our childhood with some gorgeous avant-garde designer eggs. The Couture Eggs have been roling in since the weekend and this evening we will put them online for our Charity Auction. Let’s see what else this week has to offer, after the jump.

Couture Easter Eggs

COUTURE EGGS

This Easter we will turn the traditional kitchy family holiday upside down and transform it into something more contemporary and fashionable. Together with the team of Achteinhalb we have asked  our favorite avant-garde designers to create Easter Eggs for us – we call them Couture Eggs. The designers are Anna Wegelin, Burkhardt/Möllmann, C.NeeonEsther Perbandt, JULIAANDBEN, Parsival Cserer, Paula Immich, Phoebe Heess, Proportion, Reality Studio and Von Bardonitz.

These unique eggs will be auctioned off here on the blog starting late on Monday April 18 until Friday April 22, 2011. The proceeds will be donated to children’s charity and Japan disaster relief organizations. On Thursday the eggs will be presented live at a vernissage the Achteinhalb Concept Store. More details and photos after the jump.

Designer Scouts Showcase at Achteinhalb

Designer Scouts Showcase

Today was the last day of the DESIGNER SCOUTS SHOWCASE at the Achteinhalb Concept Store. The grand opening on Wednesday was a great success. The designers created great looking installations in which they placed their models like moving manneqins in a decorated shop window. The wonderful Anna Wegelin presented her colorful collection “Lapka” in a playful environment with dolls wearing miniature versions of her outfits. It was absolutely fun to look at. The amazing Phoebe Heess created a completely different look with big black stripes hanging down from the ceiling mimiking details from her “Amarok” collection. All in black it was a totally stunning contrast to Anna’s color explosion.

Beyond the Valley presented themselves with a dramatic and quite elaborate fashion film about clothes taking on a life of its own, but with a very surprising ending. You can check it out online here. For my own accessorie label Carni I chose to seduce the guests with two handsome models offering delicious cupcakes in the style of my collection.

Anna, Phoebe and me also have a photo exhibition of our collections in the store that will go on until Febuary 19th. Impressions of the beginning and the end of the night, as well as the showroom photographed by me after the jump. Many beautiful photos of the main part of the evening by photographer André Wagner can be found over here.

Achteinhalb Grand Opening

Achteinhalb Opening

Last Friday the new concept store Achteinhalb celebrated its grand opening at Kollwitzstr. 42. Even though the timing was unusually early for Berlin (17h) the shop was packed throughout the evening, filled with curious guests browsing through the selected pieces of Esther Perbandt, Paula Immich, JULIAANDBEN, Clarissa Labin and many more, as well as the beautiful books that perfectly complement the designer clothes. The shop is located close to Senefelder Platz and is open Monday to Saturday from 11-19h. More impressions after the jump.
