Berlin Fashion Week has passed by once again, and this bi-annual style extravaganza brought us lots to look forward to with the amazing Autumn/Winter 2015/16 Womenswear collections presented. Featuring an interesting line-up of local and international designers, this Fashion Week focused on providing a platform for lesser known talents and up-and-coming contemporary brands. Fashion Week filled the city with stylish parties, impeccable street style, and of course, fashion shows that set the bar pretty high for the years to come. We reviewed the Womenswear collections and gathered the 8 that caught our attention. Click on to see which designers made the cut!

Berlin Fashion Week has come and already gone, which means I finally have some time to make sense of the menswear madness of this season. Men’s Fall/Winter fashion has never really been a draw at Berlin Fashion Week, but this January there were definitely a few shows who made it the perfect fashionistas catcher. From upcoming designers who raised the bar, to impeccable classic designs, and to the occasional ‘wtf?’, Berlin Fashion Week was again a great surprise. After a marathon through shows and some catching up online, I broke down the 8 Best Menswear collections that mattered most this season. Enjoy them after the jump!

The 10 Best Menswear Collections of Berlin Fashion Week

The 10 Best Menswear Collections of Berlin Fashion Week

In my eyes this Fashion Week edition was outstanding. Throughout the week I took a look at most of the Spring/Summer 2015 menswear collections presented during Berlin Fashion Week, picked my 10 favourite collections and rounded up two of the best looks from each. All the looks seemed very accessible to me with a high wearibility factor and a strong sporty vibe. Even though designers played with different fabrics, shapes and designs, it is quite easy to identify a few strong trends for next summer. Overall the creations were very relaxed and in neutral colors white, black and grey and just the occasional pop of bright colours in the different shades of blue and red. Life is a Pool – Backstage Love with Barre Noire

Life is a Pool – Backstage Love with Barre Noire

With his latest Spring/Summer collection for his label Barre Noire designer Timm Süßbrich remained true to his casual, yet elegant lineage, this time under the heading “Life is a Pool”. In double-row he presented looks with clear forms from the men’s and women’s line that one could wear on practically any occasion. In addition to an Aztec pattern one could also find Timm’s beloved flower and leopard designs – especially eye-catching in a two-piece-suit, cleverly combined with a leather midi skirt or flowing trousers. Vibrant colours together with muted nuances and soft shades of pastel made a great combination. The outfits were rounded off with shimmering details on skirts and jackets and splendid round mirror shades. To get a closer look enjoy my backstage and runway impressions after the jump.

A Studio Visit with Barre Noire

A Studio Visit with Barre Noire

Earlier this week I took a little trip to green Berlin suburb Wittenau to visit Timm Süssbrich from the award-winning label Barre Noire in his studio where he is currently preparing his upcoming collection that he will be showing at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in July. The bright and spacious studio surrounded by a lovely garden seems to be a great work place with a light atmosphere far away from the hassle in central Berlin. No wonder his collections seem so colorful and fun!

I had the chance to try on some of the menswear pieces from his last collection, the first time he actually designed for boys, and was quite excited about every single piece he made. The fabrics, all of them from manufacturers from France, are quite unique and the abstract artdeco-style structures made of shiny vegan leather are quite impressive handwork and really look amazing.

During my visit I also got to see the first drafts that he made for the #SKYYinspired Instagram challenge by SKYY Vodka and they look really amazing. The challenge is still on until Tuesday, so if you want to take part and win your own custom-made designer piece by Barre Noire you should get your creative juices flowing. Read how to take part here. Everyone who submits will receive one of these cool blue leopard print Barre Noire scarves especially made for the challenge.

While I was there Timm was working on one of his latest pieces that got featured as a must-have in the latest issue of Vogue. The piece will be available along with the rest of his collection at the LNFA store at Bikini Berlin. After the jump you can get some impressions of my visit, the studio and the special scarf for the challenge.

Berlin Fashion: Barre Noire inspired by You

Berlin Fashion: Barre Noire inspired by You

If there’s one thing I absolutely love about this city it’s the fact that so many young creative people are living here who make amazing beautiful things. Artists, writers, musicians, designers, you name it, Berlin has them. Timm Süssbrich is one of those young talents in the city. He started his fashion label Barre Noire only a few years ago but has already made it quite far: He won several awards, made it to the official runway of the Berlin Fashion Week, and even got into a fashion program on mainstream television.

As his next trick he is now designing garments inspired by you. By whom? Yes, by you! Together with SKYY VODKA he is calling for submissions of creative moodboards and collages through Instagram that he will take as an inspiration to design unique pieces for the best entries. So if you always wanted to have your own individual design from the hands of a hot new designer this is your chance. Disco with Barre Noire

Disco with Barre Noire

Another highlight of my Berlin Fashion Week tour was the presentation of young label Barre Noire, which created a proper disco mood inspired by legendary Studio 54. There were mirror balls on the ceiling, colorful outfits with rhinestones, shimmering patterns and glittering shoes on tattoed models that rocked the show. The accessories were an excellent continuation of the urban disco theme: headphones, caps with wings or big tridimensional Barre Noire initials and sporty watches from the collaboration with Baby-G. The vibrant and sporty looks were completed with silver fingertips. The impressions after the jump.
