Sounds of Black – Backstage with Augustin Teboul

Sounds of Black – Backstage with Augustin Teboul

For the German/French duo of Odély Teboul and Annelie Augustin, Berlin Fashion Week always meant more than sending models down a runway in their collections. The Woolmark Prize winners of 2014 are well known for their extravagant fashion performances. This year Augustin Teboul decided to photograph personalities that reflect their label, wearing their new Fall/Winter 2015/16 collection, which they displayed as a gallery exhibition in the gorgeous Kronprinzenpalais, along with a live show using two staircases as opposed to a runway. The photographs of various artists were taken in Berlin by Stefan Milev, and published in a magazine titled “Sounds of Black,” suitably representing their latest collection. This season, the pair drew inspiration from the personalities they photographed, captivated by the unification of their strength and fragility. They channeled this into their line while continuing to speak through the mystery of black garments, experimenting with materials, crafting knit sweaters with ornate embroidery, patchwork dresses with leather and pleats and wool coats with lacquer trim. Our photographer Olga went backstage to have a glance into the preparation process. Styled by Wella Professional their look could not have been more sophisticated. Enjoy the photographic impressions after the jump.

Backstage at SADAK – Berlin Fashion Week FW 15/16

The first show we visited during the Berlin Fashion Week was the runway show of Sadak. We were really happy for our friend ‎Saša Kovačević that he got the chance to show his colorful and extravagant menswear at the Berlin Fashion Week for the first time. His style is a bold mix of archaic folklore patterns and decorations and hip hop cuts. For sure his fashion is extremely unique and worth keeping an eye on. We sent our talented photographer Olga to take some backstage photos for you. Enjoy them after the jump.

The 10 Best Menswear Collections of Berlin Fashion Week

The 10 Best Menswear Collections of Berlin Fashion Week

photos: Mercedes-Benz Fashion & Peek&Cloppenburg

In my eyes this Fashion Week edition was outstanding. Throughout the week I took a look at most of the Spring/Summer 2015 menswear collections presented during Berlin Fashion Week, picked my 10 favourite collections and rounded up two of the best looks from each. All the looks seemed very accessible to me with a high wearibility factor and a strong sporty vibe. Even though designers played with different fabrics, shapes and designs, it is quite easy to identify a few strong trends for next summer. Overall the creations were very relaxed and in neutral colors white, black and grey and just the occasional pop of bright colours in the different shades of blue and red. Check out the key pieces from Berlin Fashion Week’s strongest menswear collections and start looking for inspiration for new outfits after the jump!   Read on…

Lucky Thursday: Win Esther Perbandt Fashion Show & Party Tickets

Lucky Thursday: Win Esther Perbandt Fashion Show & Party Tickets

It’s time to win something amazing again here on  I HEART BERLIN because it’s your Lucky Thursday! In anticipation of the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week we are raffling off tickets for one of the biggest highlights of the season: The Esther Perbandt 10th Anniversary fashion show and after party at Volksbühne.

Esther was born and raised in Berlin, but moved to Moscow and Paris in the course of her education and practical experience in the fashion world. When she returned to Berlin in 2003 she started her own, self-titled label and in the following 10 years became one of the most important local avant-garde designers with her own flagship store in Mitte and retailers all over the world.

Her new collection titled Grotesque is inspired by dancer and performance artist Valeska Gert who was famous for her edgy, provocative and androgynous style in the Golden Twenties of Berlin which ties in perfectly with the elegant, yet unconventional style of Esther’s label that often plays with gender roles in a sophisticated manner.

Find out how to win tickets for the show & party on Wednesday, January 15th 2013, after the jump.

Weekend Party Guide

I was told to do a party guide not related to fashion, but how could I? The Fashion Week is literally creeping into my brain, all these beautiful people who give us the honour to have a look at them. I just saw the whole German celebrity D-list at a show and I feel soo inspired now. Fashion without passion might be the best description for Berlin Fashion Week. If music is your real passion, this is your guide to Wonderland. Let the weekend begin..fashionable and unfashionable parties after the jump: Read on…
