You can tell it’s the middle of the summer whole by the small amount of events going on these days. But at least we are looking forward to one big fat highlight on Friday: The big glamorous charity swapping party the SKYY VODKA SWAP MARKET is taking place again, this time and Café Moskau and Bodi Bill will be DJing at the party, yeay! This week there is sooo much going on it’s going to be one of those where you plan on doing all of it and then end up doing none because there are just to many events to attend to. The festival season is about to start off. That time of the year, when winter is far away and life seems to consist only of laughter, joy and dancing. All we want is sun, rain, flirts, pulls, headaches, mosquito bites, ear plugs, hallucinations, stupid camping, dirty shoes, happy faces, goose bumps, love, cosy sleeping bags, mobile phones that don’t work, a sunburn, awful dixie toilets, stumbling around, losing all our friends, meeting new people, finding our friends again, happiness out of description and the great depression afterwards. Recently I attendend an exhibition on music videos at the Museum for Applied Arts in Cologne. It is really a pity that this wonderful art form is much less important than it used to be.
In our interview with Bodi Bill, probably Berlin’s most exiting band, you will find a selection of wonderful music videos – videos that are much more than a promotion tool, videos that have an artistic quality themsevles.

Bodi Bill are one of the few Berlin-based bands that I would refer to as local heroes. In fact their following here is so strong that they had to add two extra shows to their concert on April 28 at Lido. (The one on April 26 is the only one you can still get tickets for.)
The first Bodi Bill song I ever consciously listened to was Hotel, the preview track of their new album What?. It tickled a lot of my nerves and I was more then eager to hear the rest of the record. And I was not disappointed! It’s a bit hard to describe the music. Electro indie pop sounds not cool enough for this band. But it definately describes the elements that you will find in their music. Hotel for me is definately one of the strongest songs on the record, but my favoriteby far is the closing track Friends, an absolute stunner of a song!

2011 is looking pretty good in terms of music releases. After I have listened to Blue Songs now for probably a million times I really needed something fresh and that’s why the new songs from Lykke Li, Bodi Bill, Patrick Wolf , M.I.A. and Beth Ditto are coming in handy.
