Jägis Gone Wild: Win Tickets for the Hubertusfest

Jägis Gone Wild: Win Tickets for the Hubertusfest

Wolfenbütteler Festspiele

Everyones favorite traditional German digestif Jägermeister is bringing their successful music program, the Wolfenbütteler Festspiele, to Berlin with the 4-day music festival Hubertusfest. From November 3-6 they are bringing established German bands such as Booka Shade, Jennifer Rostock, Kid Simius, Schluck den Druck and Romano together with newcomers such as Tüsn, Cosby and Chefboss to the stage at the Spreewerkstätten. Looking back at the many Jägermeister Wirtshaus Tour and Wolfenbütteler Festspiele events they have done in the past I can pretty much guarantee you that it’s going to be one hell of a blast.

One thing that makes this festival not only fun but also genuine is the support that the younger bands will receive through it. There is going to be three public nights with concerts. The first one is the Newcomer night that is free of entry. The second and third public nights will feature the more famous bands and ticket sales of these will actually co-finance the next music videos of the newcomer bands. We salute the spirit behind this, the older ones supporting the young. Cheers to that with a Jägi! After the jump you can find out more about the line-up and win tickets for the almost sold-out events!

Interview: Listening to Music with Booka Shade

Interview: Listening to Music with Booka Shade

There is no need to introduce Booka Shade. The Berlin-based duo is one of the world’s most successful acts in electronic music. Most of the time, Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger are touring almost non-stop: in Germany and Europe, in South and North America, in Australia and Asia. Nevertheless they have found time to produce their fifth album Eve which was published just recently. It contains 12 songs and features collaborations with Fritz Helder (Azari & III), Groove Armada’s Andy Cato and Fritz Kalkbrenner.

In our interview with Booka Shade we talked about music by Yello, New Order, The Cure and dOP. More after the jump.

We will MELT! again

Foals

The last edition of the MELT! Festival was the first one in a couple of year’s that I didn’t go to. Why? Because for some reason there were not enough acts in the line-up that would make the hassle of driving to Dessau and camping out on a field worth while.

This year is an entirely different matter because the partial line-up that has been announced so far has so many gems in it that I’m sold already! Take this year’s headliner for instance: Massive Attack! Hello? I need not say anything more about them! And of course: Booka Shade. I can’t wait for their new album which comes out in May and I can’t wait to see them live again. Another quite intriguing act will be the brilliant director Chris Cunningham how will have a DJ and VJ Set. I’m also curious about the Crookers who produced some tracks with Roisin Murphy for their own and for her new album. Just recently I saw The XX live at Astra and I really enjoyed the concert, so it will be nice to see them again.

Further acts I am looking forward too are Four Tet who’s minimalistic electronic album I listen to a lot lately, Get Well Soon who has this amazing album out that is like a whole new genre of independant music, Foals who were introduced to me just yesterday and their new single is really big, Lindstrom & Christabelle who are on constant rotation on my iPod these days and Matias Aguayo who will perform with his own band for the first time.

If all or some of these names mean nothing to you, you better head after the jump to see a music video of each of them.

More Booka Shade!

bookashademorecovercopy

In late April Berlin-based electro duo Booka Shade will release their new record More! I didn’t have a proper electro album in my rotation for a while so it really was about time for them to release something as their albums have never failed to please me. As April is quite far away they are giving out a brand now track for free on their website. Regenerate is quite a dark track, but it has a nice groove and I really enjoy it, although it’s slightly reminiscent of In White Rooms which I loved. Their latest collaboration with M.A.N.D.Y. called Donat after the jump. Booka Shade will once again perform live at this year’s MELT!.
