There’s nothing better than waking up, walking out the door and sitting down for a delicious breakfast, usually with a mimosa in hand, in one of Berlin’s many cafes. But with lockdown 2.0 extended at least until January 10th, it’ll be a while until we can meet up for breakfast again. To cure your cravings for eggs benny, pancakes, bacon and hot coffee we’ve compiled this list of breakfast spots that are offering take away during the pandemic.

Last week we already introduced you to all those great Berlin restaurants that currently deliver their lovely food to your home. Today we wanna cover all your breakfast and brunch cravings! For me, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and going to a cafe for a French Toast or Shakshuka is one of my favorite things in terms of eating out. Many cafes are completely closed right now, only a few are still cooking and offer take away, and when it comes to delivery, well, the options are even more limited. But luckily, those few options that we could find, are excellent as they are some of the best brunch and breakfast options anyway.
As with the restaurant guide, as well you have to keep in mind that some of the delivery services of the following places are brand new and might still have room for improvement, so be patient with them in these complicated times. Also, the photos don’t necessarily reflect the dishes they offer for delivery as these change on a daily bases for some places. The times and days they offer delivery also vary, so please follow the link in the text to find out more about the specifics of their delivery services.

Berlin offers a plethora of wonderful places with amazing coffee, breakfast and brunch options. But especially now in the sunny months of the year what we are really craving for is enjoy all of this outside in the sun. And here it becomes tricky because not every cafe has a great outdoor area. Sometimes they are a little too cramped at the side of the sidewalk, totally in the shade or not very big. We’ve gone around to some of our favorite places to test their outdoor areas for optimal sunshine and present you here our pickings in our new sunny breakfast guide. Enjoy!

Over the last ten years of doing iHeartBerlin, we’ve already had a couple of occasions where we could meet some of our readers. This experience of encountering somebody in person who is following you online is a really rewarding experience for us.
Yesterday, together with the Staatsoper Berlin, we had the chance to share a very special picnic with 6 of our readers and us for the occasion of Staatsoper für Alle – a free live concert next to the opera at Bebelplatz. It was a great way to enjoy wonderful highlights of classical music and spend time with our readers up close.
In the middle of an ocean of little blankets and foldable chairs, we prepared a cute little picnic with lots of gourmet delicacies. Of course, we could not miss the two most important ingredients if you wanna have a real brunch: Cupcakes and sparkling wine.

When it comes to breakfast cafes I have to admit that I tend to always go to the same places, mostly my neighborhood cafe around the corner. But in the last year or so there have been so many cool new cafes opening up around various neighborhoods in Berlin that I thought it was about time to make a new version of our super popular breakfast & brunch places guide. This old guide still holds a lot of great places that are total classics now for Berlin, but this new guide should finally give some chance to newer cafes in town! Enjoy our list…

Berlin is really good at re-purposing old places. Factories turn into clubs, old bunkers turn into art galleries, and in Wedding, a crematorium has been converted into a very nice restaurant and art gallery space. It’s called Mars (formerly Moos), and it sits in the middle of an old cemetery.
The food is wonderful, as is the architecture. It feels very refined and classy, but not in a stuffy, expensive way. It’s chic and sophisticated, but approachable.

Geist im Glas, which translates to Ghost in the Glass, is actually a cosy little bar in a side street just off Kottbusser Damm in Neukölln that specializes in infusing spirits with fruits, herbs, nuts and spices to create unique flavors for their long drinks and cocktails.
