Last year at the iHeartBerlin Vintage Smackdown I had the chance to meet one of my absolute favourite German fashion bloggers, Alice M. Huynh from i heart alice. I have always admired her for her young and creative style, as well as for her commitment and passion for fashion design, and I definitely consider myself one of her strongest supporters. Yesterday I discovered her first collection, The Wood, and I immediately fell in love with it, not only for its beautiful prints but also for the cut and design of every single piece. Once again Alice has proofed her genuine talent, cultivated for over a year at the AMD in Munich, and given hope and confidence in the future of young designers. Let yourself be inspired after the jump!

After we revealed our Anniversary Scarf Collection with Front Row Society last week at our 5th Birthday Party in a big multimedia installation we are now happy and proud to present you the photoshoot we did with our lovely readers Marie-Louise and Christoph. The 5 winning scarf designs are now available to buy at the Front Row Society online boutique. We also added a couple of the designs that did not make the final cut in a very small limited edition of 5 pieces each. All scarves are quite large (2×1.3m) and are made of 100% Modal. Enjoy the photo spread shot by Julia Heuse and with hair & make-up by Maria Ehrlich after the jump. Thank you to everyone involved!

The new collection of Berlin-based and Swiss designers Laend Phuengkit and Dominic Knecht was one of the presentations I was sad to have missed during the Berlin Fashion Week in January. Now the lookbook of the fall winter 2011/12 collection of Knechtphuengkit has come out and I take this as an opportunity to show it here.
For me this collection is very Berlin. I see this aligned with labels such as JULIAANDBEN and Butterfly Soulfire. And as I am a big fan of said labels I am also a fan of this. More of it after the jump.

May I present to you: The new collection for my accessories label Carni. It’s called Houdini and it has become quite a splash of colors. But instead of going into detail about my inspiration I feel like I want to say something else at this place.
While creating this new collection there was one thing that struck me the most. And that is how many people actually went out of their way to help me. Unconditionally. This is something I don’t take for granted. I am so happy and blessed to know these amazing people and will be forever grateful for all their support. So I would like to send out a big thank you to all of them. To my talented photographers Katja and Philipp for their wonderful photos. To my models Agnes, Anne-Claire, Devid and Thibaud for lending me their beauty (and their patience), to the lovely Vivian for making the outfits, to Pablo for sending me the materials from Paris (and making some great choices in colors), and most importantly to my sister Susanne who has helped me so much I couldn’t put it into words.
After the jump you can see the rest of the awesome campaign photos that Katja made for the photo exhibition at the Designer Scouts Showcase at Achteinhalb (still on display until Febuary 19th btw.). On another note: I have a couple of sample pieces and one-offs from my previous collection on sale at the Edged Pop-Up Shop at Torstr. 161 which is open until January 31.

Not so long ago I read about the spring fairies in an old book from my childhood. They love to sit inside awakening flowers or melting sources to call human children into their magic land with their voices. Songs and tales from Ireland often tell stories about the fairy land and how all these lost children have to be the toys of the demonic fairy ladies. Even if we smile about those mystic beliefs we shouldn’t be so sure to be save from its magic seduction at all. It seems that the designer Lili Hennoch of the Berlin-based label Franzius has put some fairy powder into her new summer collection. Check it out and sink into the magic of the beautiful actress Sarah Mühlhause and the Franzius collection in the video after the jump.

Berlin is not only a playground for artists, but also for designers. Jen Gilpin from Canada and Kyle Callanan from New Zealand are one of the many examples. Their Berlin-based label Don’t Shoot The Messengers shapes finest silks and leathers into beautiful Art-Deco inspired skirts and dresses. After the jump you can see a few more designs of their preview collection. In January they will present their full collection on the runway at .HBC during Berlin Fashion Week. To learn more about them watch this video interview that Mahret from fnart.org did with them recently.

A few weeks ago I had the chance to join a portfolio photo shooting with a few of the pieces by Berlin based designer duo JULIAANDBEN. The shoot took place in a really interesting location: An old public pool that is now used as a camping side. Look after the jump for some backstage impressions.

We have been following young Danish designer Maja Haahr and her label Froks for a few seasons now. She has been very consistant with her designs and we love what she does. Her new fall winter 2009/10 collection is in stores now. Here in Berlin you can get it at Flagship Store at Oderberger Strasse, at Fourstore at Mulackstrasse and at Pale Blue Eyes at Kastanienallee. And if you don’t mind looking at winter clothes in this heat you can check out more photos of her male and female line after the jump.

During Fashion Week there was one thing we didn’t find the time for: the showrooms. It’s quite a shame, though, as very often they have the most interesting stuff. Luckily, the Temporary Showroom exemplary uploaded all the lookbooks of the summer 2010 collections they had on display so I can catch up now digitally.
They have a strong focus on menswear and once again I found the collections of Finish label Dusty and Swedish label Odeur the most convincing. Both of them have stayed true to their style while bringing new colors and textures into their collection. While Dusty’s fall collection was all about ropes the summer collection now adds fringes to the designs.
Odeur always has one splash of color in their otherwise black or white pieces. This summer it was a fresh yellow, coming fall it will be pink and next summer it is a cool light blue. More examples of both label’s summer 2010 collections after the jump.
