I think it’s not an overstatement when you call the band Years & Years the next big thing. Their single King was a huge hit, rightly so! When I tuned into the track recently I was totally hooked and the video by Nadia is also really amazing. Their debut album Communion came out in 2015 and is filled with joyful and clever electro pop songs that will make you jump up and dance around. If you read Wikipedia you find that a Parasite Single (パラサイトシングル parasaito shinguru?) is a single person who lives with their parents beyond their late 20s in order to enjoy a carefree and comfortable life. In Japanese culture, the term is especially used when negatively describing young unmarried women. Quite hard use of words, if you think that this is practically common in a lot of cultures.
Anyway, Parasite Single is also a very cute band from Hamburg. Their sound could be described as trip to another world. Very spiritual and still danceable they manage to create very unique music. Their new single Time Traveler features a really nice music video you can find after the jump. Also there is a new remix of the song The Hunt that I strongly recommend to all fans of electronic music. All my favorite videos after the jump.

I’ve met Alina from Frida Gold so many times in different events and parties, but I never actually saw her perform live. The final event of the EcoSport Challenge that came to a close after 6 exciting weeks on the last weekend now finally gave me a chance. Now I totally understand why people are so enchanted with her as she is a great and charming live performer with a voice as soft as honey. In a small mini concert in a rooftop loft of the Nhow Hotel at the Spree she sang some of her famous songs for all the teams of the challenge making this a very sweet finale. Recently I had an interesting conversation with a young “lady” about classical music. The conversation took place in a club on a Sunday afternoon. This girl has been living in Berlin for more than 8 years; in that time she thoroughly got into the city’s nightlife. When we talked about classical music, she told me that she really enjoys it, but that she never made it into the Philharmonie or Konzerthaus. In 8 years. Why not? “Because it is so expensive”, she told me.
This prejudice is actually quite common – and it is just not true. Tickets for Philharmonie, Konzerthaus and to all Berlin opera houses start at 15 Euros, sometimes even less. So the entrance fee to Konzerthaus and Philharmonie is just as high as the entrance fee to Berghain – and much cheaper than to many pop and rock concerts.
Tickets for one of the best piano recitals of this year start at this exact amount. I am talking about Jean-Yves Thibaudet playing Debussy at Konzerthaus on October 8, 2013. And for this concert we are even giving away 2 tickets – after the jump.

Reptile Youth are the Indie shooting stars of this year. Lucky us, they happen to come to Berlin for a gig quite often. Well, there is something about this city… However, apart from really good songs, Reptile Youth are famous for their intense live performances. Broken limbs and bloody faces are a must after visiting one of their gigs they say. The Berlin Festival and Club X-Berg last weekend was a blast and a great highlight of the Berlin Music Week. I was very proud of my animated GIF installation and the selection of party photos that I showed at the VIP area at The Berliners exhibition. And I was super happy to see Grimes, Kimbra and iamamiwhoami live, especially the later was simply amazing! I also really enjoyed new discovery Tomfoolery from Mannheim and Light Asylum where once again extraordinary, I simply love those guys! Enjoy my impression of the festival after the jump on 3 pages.
