After I missed the last 3 edition I finally made to the SXX SELLS party that is run by my fellow bloggers Laura, Dustin, Basti & Marc, Jan and their friends Candida and Matthias. It was the Mean Girls Halloween Edition and it was quite the party! To be honest I haven’t seen a party with such a beautiful crowd and as fun as this in quite a few years (except for our own events of course…) and I was happy to be there and take photos. If you enjoy the latest pop music and are not too cool to publicly dance to it, than this is your place! This Friday it’s time for one of the biggest masked balls in town: The famous Zinnoberball takes place every two years and is organized by students of the University of Arts (UdK) since 1954. It’s quite spectacular and I’ve made one of my all-time favorite party photo sets there 4 years ago. Last time, two years ago, we didn’t get in due to the masses of people trying to go there. So if you are a student of the UdK I would recommend you to buy your ticket in advance for the upcoming one this weekend. Everyone else should be there way early! This year it’s actually a two-day marathon starting with the first dance on Friday night, a breakfast and day program including readings, a barbie doll catwalk, live bands and visual installations on Saturday and the final big party on Saturday night. The problem of group catwalk- shows is the constant comparison. Who was worse, more boring and less innovative than the other may be discussed by evil tongues. The best young designer in yesterday’s SHOW 1811 at Tacheles, was certainly the young designer Julie Bourgeois with her label Tata Christiane and her new collection Iqôn in Cabin fever. Last night saw the grand opening of the Illustrative 2009 festival at the (gorgeous) Villa Elisabeth and the party in the old church next door. I was actually not planning on covering this at all as the persistent bombarding of press releases to this event annoyed the shit out of me. But the exhibition is actually kind of awesome and I did find some crazy folks at the party worth capturing. Today I feel like wearing a costume, said the Giraffe, put on her funny hat and rounded up her friends the Monkey, the Kitten, the Dog and the Flamingo to cheerfully march to the magic castle. There they found themselves among other masked creatures on a jolly jamboree called the Zinnober Ball. And together with Running Tit, Sexy Ram, Michael Jackson, Swineflu Swine, Chippendale, Hipster Hippo, Golden Girl, Poker Chick, The Joker and Britney Spears they danced the night away… The evidence after the jump.

Last Saturday we found ourselves at the Boheme Sauvage party at the Wintergarten Varieté. It was another magical night in the spirit of the Golden Twenties. The Shellack was spinning, the sugar was flaming and the fringes were flying. And as I watched the crowd dancing and the fancy couples waltzing over the stage in perfection I asked myself how much more glamorous the nights must have been back in the days compared to our modern-day understanding of a party.
