IFA 2015 – A Technological Wonderland

IFA 2015 – A Technological Wonderland

From September 4th til 9th the big consumer electronics fair IFA is taking place at Messe Berlin giving you a glimpse of the technology of tomorrow. After we visited the fair for the first time last year we were excited to dive right back and went yesterday on the first day of the fair to check out what all of the electronic brands have been cooking up in their labs.

Once again entering the Messe Berlin felt like walking into a technological wonderland. From smartphones to plasma TVs, from fitness gadgets to kitchen appliances, from stereo systems to vacuum cleaners you could basically find any kind of device that you could need in your like, or maybe not need, but want because it’s kind of cool to have.  It was stunning to see just how many shiny new products are out there that are ready and waiting to be consumed by us. If you have a hard time to imagine how this all looks, don’t worry, we had our cameras with us and took plenty of pictures to give you an impression.

A Breath of Fresh Air at the Berliner Modesalon

A Breath of Fresh Air at the Berliner Modesalon

Even though the extreme heatwave is over in Berlin, yesterday was still a pretty warm day and it got pretty hot at some of the fashion shows. The fashion presentation of the young Berlin-based label Vonschwanenflügelpupke that was part of the exclusive selection of designers at the Berliner Modesalon at Kronprinzenpalais was no exception and everyone was using their tickets to manually fan some air into their faces. Luckily the label presented a collection that was a refreshing distraction from the heat: Flowey, silky blouses, skirts, dresses and scarves in cooling blue and white colors and with prints of hot air balloons, birds and butterflies in an airy set-up with a background full of huge white balloons really took your mind away from the sweaty, sticky reality, right up into the sky.

To give it even more of a fresh breath the label collaborated with the cutting-edge ventilator brand Dyson who incorporated their elegant design fans into the show bringing the garments, hairstyles and balloons into motion with a light breeze. The fans made for some fascinating eye-catchers as their blade-less design makes you wonder how they actually work and create the wind with just a minimalist ring on a stand. You were tempted to put your hand through the ring to reveal the magic, but it remained mysterious. But nonetheless I think everyone was happy to get a soft wind blowing around their noses during the presentation. We have some animated impressions of the show for you after the jump and if you want to know a more about Dyson have a look at their website.
