In Germany we have two essential traditions for the Easter holiday: The first one is hiding chocolate Easter bunnies and nests or eggs filled with candy that the kids (or the grown-up kids who don’t want to let go of their childhood memories) have to search. And the second one is that we artfully paint real chicken eggs to make them into Eater egg ornaments that we have on some branches in a vase. Sometimes the eggs are simply colorful, some have more elaborate paintings or even carvings on them.
A few years ago we asked a couple of Berlin-based designers to create avant-garde fashion Easter eggs for us. It was great fun back then and we thought we should show you these eggs again for all of those who didn’t follow us back then. We hope these Couture Eggs, as we called them, will inspire you for your own Easter eggs. Happy Easter!

Yesterday the streetfood temple Neue Heimat celebrated their summer Season Opening. Thanks to all the great visitors the place is going to be open from Thursdays to Sundays from now on – that means finally during the week as well! This add-on was and still is celebrated with lots of highlights during the Easter weekend.
The kick-off was made by Dutch singer Qeaux Qeaux Joans who presented her second album “The Ritual” being accompanied by the Berliner Camerata. The combination of classic, pop and electronic elements paired with her voice created a great atmosphere among the audience sitting and standing around her. Just as the little orchestra helped her sometimes similar voice to Banks or Leslie Clio creating new worlds of sound. Once again food lovers could indulge at the wine or oyster bar, as well as at one of the many great food-stalls. Afterwards Natalia Escobar and Adeline provided the appropriate beats at the turntables. We definetly recommend you to stop by during the Easter weekend to enjoy the special program they have put together.

Alice in Wonderland is the perfect theme for an Easter party. I think no theme can take the rabbit more out of the cage and still be sexy and fun at the same time as the one the guys from Mindpirates choose. We had a great night in their Easter Catacombe. But we would have preferred a more eletronic music line up. I remembered the party two years ago and I think that it was way more fun dancing. Still enjoy the pictures of this incredible masquerade and beautitful bunnies we found there, right after the jump.

On Sunday our annual Easter Special took place in collaboration with Merkezi at Kottbusser Tor in Kreuzberg. We had a very exciting Easter Egg hunt in the afternoon. So many of you came by to seek for our eggs. We had so much fun hiding them and obviously you had even more fun seeking them! And it made us very happy to see how excited you were about your Easter presents by fab.de that included a pair of cool head phones, a luxurious wallet, a nice glas bowl, several tote bags and vouchers, as well as some bottles of Absolut and the exhibition catalogue of the ARTandPRESS exhibition currently open at Martin-Gropius-Bau. Thank you guys for coming and thank you to our sponsors for the great gifts! At night we had a fabulous time dancing to music by SNAX and super fun DJ sets by engtanzkavalier, and Sophia Brown. Looking forward to celebrate with you again at our next event! Some impressions and animations of our Easter Special at Merkezi after the jump on 2 pages.

Tomorrow we’ll be hosting our EASTER SUNDAY SPECIAL at the Merkezi, at Adalbertstr. 5/6. We’ll open the doors at 12h to start with late breakfast (waffles, quiches, scrambled eggs, coffee, cake…). In the afternoon the big urban Easter Egg Hunt starts that will give you the chance to get great gifts from fab.de and more. A preview of those you can find here.
To help you a little with the Easter Egg Hunt we have some photographic hints for you. There are 6 locations in the proximity of Kottbusser Tor where we are each hiding 3-6 eggs. One of the locations is technically 2 in one, but very close to each other. Some of the photos are only supposed to lead you the way and don’t show the actual hiding place. The eggs will be in little plastic bags to protect them from dirt and rain. They will not be burried in the ground or underneath cars and you don’t have to digg through trash. We picked quite secluded spots to hide them. The eggs won’t be there until tomorrow at 15h.
To give a maximum of people the chance to take part please only take a maximum of 2 eggs per person. When you find an egg, please bring it to Merkezi and you will receive your Easter goodie. The eggs are individualized and numbered, no chance to fool us by bringing your own eggs 😉 All remaining gifts will be raffled off in the evening at the party. Good luck on the egg hunt! Find the hints after the jump on 2 pages!

This week is all in the name of a bloody sacrifice! Karfreitag and Easter is coming up on the weekend, which means for us four work-free days (ideally, we know how that never really works out…). But before that we have movie screenings, free dinners, store openings, art exhibitions, magazine launches, naked performances and more, before everything culminates (ideally) in our annual iHeartBerlin Easter Special that we are doing with and at food gallery Merkezi. Check out the events after the jump.
