eBay Stages Installation of Most Successful Products at Bikini Berlin

eBay Stages Installation of Most Successful Products at Bikini Berlin

This weekend online market place eBay staged a large installation of a selection of some of their most successful products in the high-concept shopping mall Bikini Berlin offering visitors a chance to win their favorite product. With the event eBay once again showed how diverse their product range is and that there really is the perfect product for everyone.

We live in a world surrounded by purely digital products: online shops, smartphone apps, social media platforms. We spend so much time with these virtual entities that we somehow completely loose touch with the companies behind them. An event like this is a great opportunity for users to connect a “face” with something we otherwise only use as a tool. I see the events that we’ve done with iHeartBerlin over the last 10 years as the same thing. It’s a way for us to manifest the blog in the real world, get to know our readers, and showcase that we do more than just writing about things, we can also create them and take part in the cultural ongoings of Berlin.

The Spring Cleaning Dilemma: eBay or Flea Market?

The Spring Cleaning Dilemma: eBay or Flea Market?

Believe it or not, but we almost made it through the grey Berlin Winter, yeay! And this means that one old tradition is coming up again: the Spring cleaning. Spending so much time in your home during the cold months has the negative effect that we horde way too many things and it’s time to get some order back into our four walls and clean out everything that we don’t really need anymore.

And once we’ve gone through all the things one big question will arise: Flea market or eBay? In our modern times the struggle to answer this question seems to be quite a luxury problem. But we want an answer none the less. In the last years online market places have become a tough competition for the traditional flea market as they really changed the game. On a platform like that you will reach a much higher audience than any local flea market ever could. And for certain types of items you will be able to sell to much higher prices. On the other hand the flea market booth offers you a social experience and interaction with the potential buyers, and you will be able to sell many things in only one day. So obviously both options have their advantages. But what is the best option for you?

Illuminated Berlin – 20 Years of eBay Light Installation

Illuminated Berlin – 20 Years of eBay Light Installation

Celebrating 20 years of a company really requires something very special and what could be more special than illuminating the city? For eBay this dream birthday gift came true last night when light artist Gerry Hofstetter drove on the river Spree with his big projector and illuminated the building along the shore with iconic Berlin graphics and the eBay anniversary logo. For the people passing by this became quite the spectacle as the projections spanned entire stretches of buildings. Between the Melia Hotel at Friedrichsstraße and the Schleuse am Mühlendamm almost every building was enlightened and even though it rained so many people came or stopped to see the light installations. After the jump we have a couple of impressions for you! Happy Birthday, eBay!

Lights On In Berlin – 20 Years of eBay

Lights On In Berlin – 20 Years of eBay

This Thursday evening, September 10, as it’s getting darker outside with the end of summer the Spree will be transformed into a light landscape. Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter will illuminate buildings along the Spree between Berlin Hauptbahnhof and East Side Gallery as part of eBay‘s 20 year anniversary celebrations. Internationally renown, the investment banker turned marketing consultant and artist has been transforming public buildings, monuments as well as landscapes and whole mountains since 1999, and actually this is the second time in Berlin for Hofstetter as he illuminated the Brandenburger Tor in 2005. See more examples and read more about the upcoming installation after the jump. Read on…

eBay Shop & Sell Boutique in cooperation with Mädchenflohmarkt

eBay Shop & Sell Boutique in cooperation with Mädchenflohmarkt

You know how it is: Every time you need to dress for a special occasion, or maybe just for the next work day and you stand in front your completely overfilled closet yet still you feel like you have nothing to wear. Well, you have A LOT to wear, only you don’t feel like wearing anything you own and then you end up putting on that neutral black shirt and pair of pants because it’s the only outfit that does not completely bother you.

So we have two issues here: a) you need new clothes because obviously you kind of over most of the stuff you own and b) you need to get rid of a lot of clothes to make more space in your closet. Only one tiny problem: Hell will freeze over before you get up at 7 a.m. in the morning on a holy Sunday to set up a booth at Mauerpark. And you kind of don’t want to bother with taking pictures of every single item and putting it up online, let alone packing it up and sending it out to its new owner.

We might have a solution here: The Concierge Service by eBay in cooperation with Mädchenflohmarkt and the eBay Fashion Shop & Sell Boutique. As if by magic they will take care of all the complicated stuff in the process of getting rid of your old wardrobe so it can finally find its happy new wearer. I have been waiting forever for a service like this because I too have an overfilled closet and no time to sell the stuff myself so I better get going with this before my pieces are completely out of fashion.

To introduce the whole concept eBay and Mädchenflohmarkt are hosting a pop-up shop from June 11-16 here in Berlin. Find out more about it after the jump.

A Collection of Street Art Products

A Collection of Street Art Products

If there is one thing Berlin is full of and loved for it’s the tons of amazing Street Art and murals on the bare walls of its buildings. Especially districts like Kreuzberg, as well as all the abandoned industrial buildings along the Spree are covered with art and through that repuprosed from ruins to canvases. The only downside: You can’t exactly buy these amazing artworks for your living room. Well, most of them you can’t. But still there are a range of interesting products themed or focused on street art such as books, calendars, stickers and art prints, even some fashion items. For my first own collection on eBay Today I collected some of these products for you to have a look. More about it after the jump.
