Plant Up Your Berlin Home with Bergamotte

Some of you might have noticed already thanks to our comprehensive plant guide, that we are true plant lovers here at iHeartBerlin – and I can pretty much speak for almost the entire team.

In the last years, plants have become such an integral part of my life, not only because of my growing collection but also because of the connections with other people I have made over time because of our shared love for those green beauties.

Especially the charming events and pop-up sales hosted by Bergamotte in the last years have given me a lot of opportunities to connect with local plant lovers and I’m really grateful for that. As you can imagine, I was excited when they approached me to help spread the word about their special plant and flower delivery service they offer here in Berlin, but also in other major German cities.

This Cherry Blossom Alley Is The Most Beautiful Place In Berlin Right Now

This Cherry Blossom Alley Is The Most Beautiful Place In Berlin Right Now

A charming fairytale-like path, covered in pink flower petals, lined by a thousand cherry blossom trees – that’s the TV-Asahi-Kirschblüten-Allee. Grand Cherry Blossom Trees, loaded with heaps of luscious pink petals, standing tall against the deep blue sky – you can’t feel spring more intensely than here. Surprisingly, this is one of the lesser known places to enjoy when Spring finally hits Berlin city. Its beauty and charm downright overwhelmed us when we got there (and admittedly, it is not that easy to find). You can either reach this little piece of heaven by S-Bahn or car, down by the border of the city in Teltow. The easiest way is getting off at S Lichterfelde Süd, and then walking towards the pathway, which is called Mauerweg. It runs between Lichterfelder Allee and the border of Brandenburg (so it actually ends where Berlin ends too).

Berlin is… Blossoming

Berlin is… Blossoming

There is this one time in the year when even Berlin seems innocent. Although we all know what it’s been up to during the cold fall and winter nights, when its untamed inhabitants, unable to express their joys and sorrows under the clear blue sky had to confine themselves in the limiting areas sheltering them from the cold. We all know the overwhelming contrast of a freezing Berlin night and the literally breathtaking heat of the dance floor.

Well then, a blissful spring afternoon makes one forget about all winter sins. We tend to fall into the good old trap of starting anew again. Even if you’re wised up enough to realize that this kind of thinking has usually more of the fooling yourself factor than that of an actual resolution, spring makes it easier to come to terms with your inner mess and hopefully think of some measures to organize it a little bit.

Experience the Power of Flowers in Berlin

Experience the Power of Flowers in Berlin

Flowers are totally hype these days! With quite a few flower related start-ups and projects on the rise it seems they are taking over the reign from the trending positions of food delivery and dating apps of the last couple of years. The slightly antiquated job of the florist is now totally in fashion again.

Flower services such as Florale Welten, Damerius, Flowerstudio Berlin, Bloomon and many more are now reinventing the classical flower bouquet to make it into the contemporary, Instagram-worthy little pieces of art that people just can’t help but fall in love with.

Tollwasblumenmachen.de is an online magazine that is dedicated to the beauty of flowers and promotes all these little projects that we have here in Berlin. They also have a huge map and search function that let’s you find the best flower shops in your proximity.

This coming weekend they are organizing a huge Flower Market at Bikini Berlin that you shouldn’t miss. The amazing flower installation by Rebecca Louise Law in Spring showed us that flowers and the Bikini Berlin go really well together, so we are looking forward to this new flowertastic event.

The Most Romantic Places of Berlin

The Most Romantic Places of Berlin

Berlin is certainly not Paris. It’s not known for being a city of love, maybe more for short-lived adventures? But regardless of Berlin’s rough nature, it does have an utterly romantic core. Something that you will only discover when you take the time to get to know it, and look underneath all it’s layers.

Beside the obvious places such as techno clubs, hipster cafes, co-working spaces, and cheap tourist attractions Berlin has a couple of truly unique places that a particular charm that I would describe as traditionally romantic. Imagine greek columns entwined by ivy, boot rides in fairytale-like forests, hidden rose gardens and bridges leading to palaces. It’s the stuff of Disney movies and Berlin has these kind of places too! Maybe you know some of them, but didn’t pay attention to recognize their true beauty. Or maybe you have never heard of them. Either way we would advise you to seek them out, maybe on your next date, maybe on your next family visit, or maybe by yourself with a good book. Enjoy our selection of the most romantic places of Berlin masterfully captured by some of our favorite Instagrammers (and myself).

The Flower Wonder of Berlin by Rebecca Louise Law

The Flower Wonder of Berlin by Rebecca Louise Law

When you look around the streets of Berlin, on the tables of people’s homes, on Instagram, we are invaded by blossoms and flowers these days. The glorious beauty of Spring I like to call it. But the warm season is not the only one giving us the bright colors of nature; London-based artist Rebecca Louise Law had her Berlin debut in the past week with her stunning sculptural work. But her material is neither paint nor paper – she uses flowers. Lot’s of them actually. For the Bikini Berlin she created a huge site-specific installation that has the visitors of the concept shopping mall marvel at the beauty of nature. Hung from the ceiling, thousands of flowers form a mesmerizing sky of blossoms that are as enchanting as the Spring itself. We spoke with Rebecca about her new work and her relationship to Berlin. Read our interview and see more photos of the installation at Bikini Berlin after the jump.
