After last year’s intriguing Canvas Bar event in an unused subway tunnel of Berlin, Bombay Sapphire gin is continuing their collaboration with the art world with an exciting new project that we want to introduce to you today: With their new pop-up art campaign, they decided to go BIG. In five German cities, they have claimed the biggest canvas they could get: the walls of buildings.
For four weeks in September, five stunning murals will grace a big wall in Düsseldorf, Köln, Hamburg, Leipzig and – of course – Berlin. For each of the murals they commissioned established local artists: Semor, Jana Wind, Martin Grohs, and Stefan Kunz. But for Berlin, they did something special.
Last week we had the pleasure to be part of a very unique and very pink dinner event that was hosted by the lovely ladies of This Is Jane Wayne in collaboration with Gordon’s Pink Gin at the charming Rose Garden in Mitte. What was a wonderland of pink delicacies and elixirs for us can be the same for you on the 12th of September when The Pink Dinner will happen for the second time – and this time open to the public. Seats are limited so you better get your tickets quickly here.
It’s the Berliners’ favorite long drink: the Gin & Tonic. It’s so simply and pure. But after being the number one for so long, isn’t it time to mix it up a bit?
That’s pretty much what the Tanqueray Drinks Club hosted by the boys from Salt & Silver at the lovely Infarm space was all about – finding ways to bring your own special flavor to this classic drink. Mixing a Gin & Tonic certainly doesn’t have to end with the gin and the tonic water. The possibilities to create a more refined version by adding more ingredients while maintaining the freshness of the classic long drink are basically endless.
As we learned from award-winning mixologist Atalay Aktas a whole range of herbs, berries and exotic fruits offer themselves as natural components. It does make sense because gin is already infused by herbs, why not add fresh ones? And the fruits create the perfect counterpart for the strong herbal flavors to bring a bit of sweetness to the mix.
What really made a difference to me in the end was the addition of liquors or bitters. They really bring an originality of taste to the Gin & Tonic that almost elevates the long drink to a cocktail while still being fairly easy to mix. It was certainly an experience that gave us a better understanding of the versatility of the Tanqueray & Tonic. To wet your appetite we have some impressions of the evening for you!

We’ve all seen them, out in the streets of Berlin, in our offices, they’re in the clubs, in all the cafes. They’ve penetrated our circle of friends, maybe we are even becoming one of them ourselves? I’m talking about one of the ugly results of the Social Media Age: Smartphone Zombies. They walk in the streets without checking the traffic, they sit silently across from each other in restaurants, whole hordes of them in the subway, and all of them constantly gazing into the screen of their smartphones as if they were staring through a magical looking glass into another dimension, one that seems to be significantly more exciting than the world that surrounds them.
How often do you use your smartphone? Is it the first thing you grad when you wake up, and the last thing you see before you fall asleep? How often do you check your new likes, your incoming Whatsapp messages or eMails? How often do you upload new photos on Facebook and Instagram? Maybe you are becoming a Smartphone Zombie yourself and you haven’t even realized it yet? Maybe no-one tells you because all your friends are already infected and this behavior has become a state of normalcy for all of you?
If you think the symptoms are recognizable than maybe it’s time you take action before it’s too late. We’ve compiled a list of 7 steps that will help you to avoid becoming a Smartphone Zombie. You can work your way through our list of steps and depending how early you begin to fail our recommendations the more serious your infection seems to be.
