There was a time when street style was totally a thing. Every major city had a street style blog (or many) and of course also Berlin. But the trend had faded over the years a bit and many blogs stopped posting or changed their editorial concepts. Thanks to Instagram and success projects such as Humans of New York (and other cities that followed) street portraits totally had a comeback!
Glamcanyon used to be one of the major street style blogs (and to me personally the most beautiful one) in the early days of fashion blogs in Germany, but the flow of new styles dried up a bit a few years ago. Back then the blogger behind it, photographer Katja Hentschel, shifted her focus to other projects such as her follow-up blogs Travelettes and Glowbus. But a few months ago her passion for street portraits came back to life and she decided to revitalize Glamcanyon. Now you can again regularly find her beautiful photos of beautiful people from Berlin and other cities that she comes to. But with the new photos you can see how the eye of the photographer has developed over the years. Now it’s not anymore purely about the looks, it’s also about the personality of the portrayed person and the moment they had with the photographer. Absolutely charming! We selected some of our favorites from Berlin for you today.
I know so many people working in fashion that I am positively engaged when I meet a biomechanic or any sort of person working outside the vanity industry. Nevertheless i realized that just a few people I know working for fashion surprise and inspire me everytime I meet them by the way they dress. This shortlist that I made in anticipation of Fashion Week is just based on my everyday life. There are wonderful people out there I might not know, or I just don’t meet on a regular basis. But these five handsome individuals, are the eyecandy of every party or event I go. They are kind of my fashion heroes. That’s why I wanted to dedicate them this post. Yesterday’s opening party of the new weekly Cinéma party at HBC was a great success and we had loads of fun! Thanks to Glamcanyon, Elizafoxxx and Svenster we finally have a new weekly party to go to on a regular basis. So keep on coming boys and girls! More impressions after the jump.
Two exciting things in one – that’s what I call a good start into the year 2011. The 3rd of January brings us not only a new weekly thing to do on the otherwise quite dry Monday evening it also brings us a brand new party with the most delicious r’n’b, pop and hip-hop music. The three charming hosts of this new night called Cinéma are the amazing Katja from Glamcanyon, lovely Eliza Foxxx from Motor FM and Hip-Hop DJ Svenster. The details on the flyer after the jump.
Did I mention that the NYE party at .HBC was really nice? Like, really nice! Katja shot this wonderful video which is like the extension of party photography. Really nice, too!
Blind Date Swingers Club. What a name for a party. Especially if it is actually more of a hipster get-together in a private apartment then a sexual orgy of old meat. But this one really was one hell of an event – for various reasons… More after the jump.
