Today we want to put the spotlight on ILLUSTRATIVE, one of the most important platforms for contemporary illustration, graphic art and design here in Berlin. Founded in 2006 by gallery owner Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss this unique artistic exhibition is held in Berlin every two years, to capture the variety and creativity of the visual culture of today. This weekend, ILLUSTRATIVE is kicking off once again bringing together illustrators, artists, collectors and art-fans, and showcasing the latest trends of illustrative art from all over the world. Last night saw the grand opening of the Illustrative 2009 festival at the (gorgeous) Villa Elisabeth and the party in the old church next door. I was actually not planning on covering this at all as the persistent bombarding of press releases to this event annoyed the shit out of me. But the exhibition is actually kind of awesome and I did find some crazy folks at the party worth capturing.
