Berliners Love Italian Food – The True Italian Food Festival

Some love art and some love pasta. We love both. So switching between fancy art events and delicious Italian cuisine might be a challenge in the next few days of Art Week for us.

The reason: the True Italian Food Festival is in town and is bringing lots of amazing restaurants together in one big food event. The idea is to offer a special regional dish with a drink for only 7 EUR. Very convenient for shy foodies who usually might not try the craziest thing on the menu.

Today the festival hits off and goes on until Sunday. Check here for the list of participating restaurants and go on a food adventure with your friends and lovers.

Monti Caffe’ Bar – A True Italian Restaurant in Friedrichshain

Monti Caffe’ Bar – A True Italian Restaurant in Friedrichshain

Already in its second edition, the True Italian Festival of authentic Italian cuisine stormed the city last weekend with over 50 locations to explore. Organized by our friends from Berlino Magazine their goal is to promote Italian dishes that are not so famous in Germany. The great deal about this festival is: You get a unique specialty and a drink all for the special price of 7 Euros. Sounds good right?

This year we decided to have a special look at a cute little restaurant and breakfast place in Friedrichshain. Monti Caffe’ Bar offers a selection of Italian pasta dishes and international cakes and breakfast options. It’s definitely not the typical kitschy Italian restaurant with odd interior choices you might know from your holiday. Instead, Monti is more like a cool urban spot with clear influences of playful Italian design mixed with Berlin elements like concrete and steel details. Check out the address, opening times and some pictures after the jump. Read on…

Trattoria a’ Muntagnola – Italian Food Porn in the Heart of Schöneberg

Trattoria a’ Muntagnola – Italian Food Porn in the Heart of Schöneberg

There are certain streets in Berlin-Schöneberg that are mostly known for representing gay culture from the 70s to the 90s.  Still, the Motzstraßen-Kiez attracts gay tourism and leather lovers from all over the world, especially to certain events like Folsom.

But what took me by surprise last week, was that exactly there, in the middle of the heart of gay Schöneberg, there was a culinary pearl that would teach me new secrets and wonders of the Italian cuisine. Located on Fuggerstraße 27, Trattoria a’ Muntagnola run by Pino and his wise mother Angela is a true Italian classic in Berlin.

Even though the interior is truly inspired by Italian exaggeration the food you will taste there can easily beat that of many star restaurants. Thanks to the True Italian food festival that is currently happening in Berlin for 72h we had the chance to try out some gems of their incredible menu.

Nudo – Cucina Italiana

Nudo – Cucina Italiana

Kreuzberg has a new gem of Italian cuisine right in its heart at Lausitzer Platz. We tested the new restaurant Nudo recently and can full-heartedly give it the thumbs up. Co-owned by the founder of the super successful Kochhaus stores it comes as no surprise that the recipes and ingredients are of the best of quality here. The concept is also quite different from most restaurants. They only have one daily menu that consists of four courses and combines nouveaux cuisine and traditional dishes. It normally includes both fish and meat, but can also be requested as a vegetarian menu or other special requests. So you can basically come here every day and experience something entirely new. We love this concept very much, especially to such a fair price of only 28 EUR. Have a look at our impressions and check out this great new place as soon as you can!
