This coming Saturday premium vodka brand Absolut is bringing their new exciting event series Nights by Absolut to Berlin, and of course this is going to happen with a bang. They series launched in New York with a spectacular party earlier this month and the next one in Berlin is promissing to be just as great.
With their previous projects and collaborations Absolut has always been a pioneer in combining the nightlife experience with creative and artistic works and the Nights by Absolut will be no exception. For each of their events of this series they have invited one creative mega mind to come up with a project that will leave a lasting impression.
For their European launch on September 27 here in Berlin they invited London-based Studio XO to create an unforgettable experience in a massive location. Studio XO is specialized in combining couture with technology and they have already some really impressive collaborations in their portfolio such as the flying dress for Lady Gaga or the illuminated stage outfits for Azealia Banks, Rihanna, Beyoncé and Fergie.
In Berlin they will create something that could very well become their masterpiece. Fusing modern technology, fashion and elements of nature they will turn the impressive Kraftwerk Mitte into a one-of-a-kind experience. The visitors of the party will be equipped with special laser couture elements and they will project a playful picture of lights, colors and movement into this great space. No city has a deeper connection to electronic music than Berlin. To describe it in the words of Techno legend Dimitri Hegeman, founder and owner of Tresor: “East and West celebrated the new freedom to the sound of electronic music. Berlin became the place for uncompromised youth culture and Tresor was the centre of this movement.”
Right next to Tresor electronic music will discover its avant-garde spirit this week with the Berlin Atonal Festival. The permanent home of this event which had its debut back in 1982, is an abandoned power plant called Kraftwerk Mitte. With several artistic installations it has been turned into a darkly majestic industrial complex for the duration of the festival.
We heartly recommend to check out the line up of this unique celebration of contemporary music and maybe discover one pearl or another between the several highlights. Also we think that the location and its audio-visual installations are an incredible source of inspiration for the music and light artists presenting their work there. Mark your calendars, kids, on January 24th 2013 Berlin will get a new playground for experimental and excentric ideas and events. The Aktionsforum Shift will officially open its doors at the Kraftwerk Mitte, the same building that is also home to the Tresor Club and the big event space where the Show And Order fashion trade show takes place during Berlin Fashion Week. Shift will not just be another random club, it will be a space for performances and theatre, music, exhibitions, workshops, film screenings and much more. The preview event of the space during NYE already presented a very eclectic event with a live performance by Aerea Negrot (former vocalist of Hercules & Love Affair) and an experimental video installation which you can see part of after the jump.
