Cinéma de Mode: Moondogs

Cinéma de Mode: Moondogs

In this week’s Cinéma de Mode we have Berlin based designer Mads Dinesen with the fashion film Moondogs for his Fall/Winter 2013/14 collection. Inspired by the American blind composer and poet Moondog, widely known for his avant-garde outfits, the film showcases a menswear collection filled with ritualistic and occult references, yet very modern and much more approachable than his previous ones. The film reflects the essence of the collection not only as a critical comment on society, but also as a spiritual quest to find truth, which aims at translating our inner stories and images into unconventional clothes. Enjoy the film after the jump.

XXXclusive with Mads Dinesen

XXXclusive with Mads Dinesen

About 2 weeks ago Claudio and I went to another XXXclusive event at the XXX Berlin store in Kreuzberg. We love the place and the unique events and presentations they do their. This time they invited young avant-garde designer and artist Mads Dinesen to show a special new collection and his exhibition of objects and photographs. His work is amazing and I’m proud to be the owner of one of his garments. Check out the photos of his presentation after the jump.

X X X Berlin – The Avant-Garde Haven

X X X Berlin – The Avant-Garde Haven

When I stepped into the X X X Berlin store in Kreuzberg a few weeks ago I thought to myself, oh my god, this is an avant-garde paradise. The look of the store, the selection of designers, the little details everywhere. It’s a dream come true for every lover of avant-garde fashion. They have amazing collections by Berlin-based designers and labels such as Mads Dinesen, Butterfly Soulfire and Tata Christiane, as well as international designers such as Barbara I Gongini and Moonspoon Salon from Denmark, Thomas from Canada, Bjorg from Sweden and Guiseppe Virgoni from Paris, who I think could be called the male counterpart of Augustin Teboul. They also have a very interesting record selection with releases by Dutch label Enfant Terrible that you could call the musical equivalent of avant-garde fashion.

When you dig further into the spacious loft in a hidden backyard at Görlitzer Bahnhof you will also find a beautiful gallery hallway and beyond that a kitchen space that is used for private dinners and presentations. There are also 3 very cool guestrooms that they rent out to artists and designers to work and sleep. It basically has all you need. I want to move in!! Have a look at our photo set from the X X X store and the details after the jump.
