Making Of: The Men of Sugar at Berghain by Joseph Marr

Making Of: The Men of Sugar at Berghain by Joseph Marr

Our article about the Men of Sugar at Berghain is one of the most successful art posts we’ve ever had on the blog so we thought we give you a little look behind the curtain of how this amazing sculpture by Australian artist Joseph Marr that is installed inside the bar of Berghain has been created. The sculpture (which the artists prefers to call an object because it wasn’t actually ‘sculpted’) shows a chain of men intertwined with each other in sexual embraces. But what is most interesting about it, is not the explicit sexuality of it or the place it was put on display, it’s the fact that it’s entirely made out of sugar. But before the sugar there was the flesh! The production of the piece of course required some real men to get down and dirty and of course which better place to look for them than the infamous Berghain itself. So these horny devils are not a product of the artist’s imagination, they actually exist and where scanned in 3D while doing what they are now doing for eternity inside their glass coffin under the bar counter. Check out a featurette about the artist’s process of creating his scultures after the jump. And stay tuned to iHeartBerlin for exciting news about Joseph Marr’s upcoming solo exhibition…

Behind the Scenes of Fashion Week: AN!MAL

Behind the Scenes of Fashion Week: AN!MAL

This Thursday at 21h the young and wild accessory label AN!MAL will present their new collection with a fashion presentation and fashion film screening at the projektGalerie Pop-Up Shop at Gormannstr. 25 in Mitte. Last week director Emilio El-Lauren invited me to the set of the film to take a look behind the scenes and make some impressions of the filming process. I got to see a lot of hot girls in skimpy leather outfits playing kittens and crawling on the floor. The one dominant impression of the set apart from the kittens was smoke – and I can’t tell you if it was from the fact almost everyone on set was smoking or if it was just the smoke machine. Have a look behind the curtain of this production for the Berlin Fashion Week. More to come…
