Finally Together Again: A Photo Shoot with AA Collected

What an unusual time it has been. I feel excited and uneasy, that we can with absolute certainty say, that this year has truly not been like any other year of our lives. Staying inside and not being able to see our friends and family for an uncertain amount of time was a tough new challenge.

Never before have I missed human connection as deeply as I have during these past months. I can’t imagine the consequences this will have on human interaction for years to come. To now be able to finally meet people again actually brings my heart rate up. It made me realize how important a sense of togetherness is, more than I ever thought possible.

Aussie Lifestyle in Berlin

Aussie Lifestyle in Berlin

Silo

Berlin has always been a kaleidoscope of cultures. People from all over the world come here to spend some time or start a new life. Each and every one of them brings a little piece of their home country with them, may it be a recipe, a local tradition, an idea, or a project they started there and continue here. All of these things enrich Berlin is creativity and diversity. It gives its inhabitants the feeling they are not just living in one city, but they are living in the entire world in one place.

In our series about foreign lifestyles in Berlin we have already introduced you to the contributions to our city that came from Turkish and from Polish people. For our third edition we are looking at a country that is much further away than that: It’s also known as Down Under!

For our Australian edition we are also introducing a novelty to our series: We teamed up with the beloved international hair care brand Aussie to give you the chance to not only experience the Australian lifestyle here in Berlin, but also to win a travel budget of 2500 EUR to fly all the way down under yourself and get a taste of the Aussie life! More about that after the jump. Read on…

Cinéma de Mode: Mies Nobis

Cinéma de Mode: Mies Nobis

Today’s Cinéma de Mode brings you a fashion film by Andrea Deanesi & Luke Glover for the current 2013 collection SPIINE of jewelry label Mies Nobis. Founded in 2011 by Berlin-based Australian designer Millicent Nobis, the unique jewelry brand has always distinguished itself for its statement pieces inspired by animalistic shapes such as horns, teeth and bones, reshaped into abstract forms. In her latest collection Millicent expresses once again her sculptural and structural style through the avantgardistic design and distinct character of every single piece, resulting in an amazing collection  of headbands, necklaces, rings and cuffs, all made of Sterling Silver. Have a look at Mies Nobis’ refined reincarnations after the jump.

Mies Nobis Jewellery

Mies Nobis Jewellery

I met Mies Nobis a a few years ago at our iHeartBerlin 3rd Anniversary Dinner. Back then I got to know the charming Aussie girl as the blogger behind Mies In Berlin. Little did I know that she is also a fashion designer! Since her move to Berlin a few years back she has started her own jewellery label here. She makes amazing necklaces, bracelets and rings made of brass, silver, clay, wood and other materials. The unique pieces imitate the shape of horns and bones and have an almost tribal look, but in a very avant-garde and refined way. You can buy pieces from her new collections in her online shop or at the Sammler store here in Berlin at Mulackstrasse. Have a look at some of the photo shoots from her collections after the jump.
