6 Days to Halloween: Cinéma de Mode

6 Days to Halloween: Cinéma de Mode

With Halloween just around the corner, we are getting you in the mood with our fashion film triple feature in today’s Cinéma de Mode. First on the list is Invito Pericoloso, Italian for Dangerous Invitation, a 7-minute short by Karl Lagerfeld for the Fendi AW13 collection, which stars models Saskia De Brauw and Clara Delevingne invited by a mysterious host to attend a creepy and enigmatic dinner party. Also approaching the new genre of fashion horror movies, are Marcin Kempski and Maciek Dabrowski in their film Ember for the label Konrad Parol, with a macabre horror story inspired by The Silence of the Lambs. Last but not least, it’s once again Possession by Berlin-based director Ralf Schmerberg for the avant-garde fashion label Moga E Mago, which tells a tale of suspense and terror set in a Berlin club night where drugs, attraction and excess turn fatal. Enjoy the 3 horror fashion films back to back and get ready to celebrate in ‘spooktacular’ fashion after the jump!

Moonlight with Moga e Mago

Moonlight with Moga e Mago

This season’s choice for the closing show of Berlin Fashion Week was a really surprising one. Our beloved accessory label Moga E Mago, who had their runway debut with our second Designer Scouts show back in 2010 and have participated in many of our events ever since, had the honor to grace the catwalk with their amazing collection Notturno as the big final act before the tent was taken down again for this year. And they made quite an impression with their first show in the official Fashion Week venue: They totally abondoned the high tech lights and instead equipped the guests of the first 3 rows with flash lights to manually illuminate the models when they walked by them. It looked incredible and together with the mysterious music created an atmosphered that was haunting and beautiful at the same time. It was just as amazing an effect as at the Iris van Herpen show a few years ago when the catwalk light followed the models over the runway like an helicopter search light. I took some photos backstage and of the guests and also filmed the show, enjoy it after the jump.

Cinéma de Mode: The Visit

Cinéma de Mode: The Visit

Earlier this year Katja shot this charming fashion film for my Designer Scouts project featuring the designs of Berlin-based labels Esther Perbandt, Von Bardonitz, Moga E Mago, Augustin Teboul and Sadak. The video was commissioned by the Fashion & Art Toronto Festival for their Focus Germany program and it was a great way for us to show the work of our Berlin designers abroad.

The film, titled The Visit, showcases a diverse range of avant-garde fashion in a very unexpected setting while making a tongue-in-cheek statement on the quirks of dating behavior of our modern society. Have a look after the jump.

Moga E Mago

photos: Katja Hentschel

Moga E Mago belong to the few Berlin-based labels that I consider to be truly outstanding. The creative leap from their first collection that they presented last summer during the Designer Scouts event and their new collection that they showed last January is proof that they will be going through the roof in no time. Obviously their extravagent accessories are not everyone’s cup of tea, but for someone who loves bold accessories like I do their pieces are a dream come true. Their new lookbook was shot by my talented friend Katja Hentschel. It is no surprise that a combination of such talents will result in totally stunning photos. See more of them after the jump.

Later today you can see the collection live at a music fashion show at the Dam Stuhltrager gallery in Kreuzberg. Their designs will be worn by the OMP orchestra during a performance along with other designers such as Hector Hector. Details here.

Pastpresent Store Opening

Pastpresent Store

Last Saturday Berlin has increased about 20% in terms of coolness with the opening of the new Pastpresent store at Köpenickerstr. 96. The beautiful black store features mainly the menswear labels Livio and 24/7 Suits, but also has a few other accessorie labels like Moga E Mago that premiered on the Designer Scouts runway only 2 months ago.

We were especially thrilled by the extensive selection of hats. I actually found so many nice pieces that it really hurt that I had already spent all my money in London… After the jump you’ll find impressions from the opening and the details.
