As some of you already know we are right in the middle of our new group exhibition Fantastic Playground Berlin that you can still visit until Saturday at the Marcell von Berlin Flagship Store on Friedrichstraße 172. We have been planning this show for a long time now and we still can’t believe that it finally materialized, and it looks so much more amazing than we ever could have wished for.
This exhibition is really special to us because for the first time we had a theme that allowed us to create something like a retrospective of our work for iHeartBerlin for the past 15 years. Berlin is a playground of ideas – this has always been an important theme for us as we featured all these wonderful and inspiring projects from different creative scenes that make up Berlin. It’s so diverse and fun and colorful. To us, it’s the essence of Berlin and why this city is so special. It feels like everyone can find their space on this wild playground.

Today, we are proud to announce our next big group exhibition “Fantastic Playground Berlin” which will celebrate the unique diversity of Berlin’s creative scene. It’s been a couple of years now since our last big exhibition Uncensored Berlin so we thought it was about time to do a new one. The last two years during the pandemic with its various lockdowns and restrictions have not been easy for the art and culture scene – nor have they been easy for us. This new show is our effort to reclaim spaces and draw the attention back to the creative people that we care about so much.
For decades Berlin has been the secret creative hub of Europe. From music to art. From theater to architecture. From techno to science. Berlin became the place where cultures clash – but in a good way.

Even though clubs have been closed for over a year now, surprisingly, we haven’t really run short on news about Berlin’s famous nightlife places. From photography projects on clubber outfits, empty dancefloors, or outdoor raving, to virtual clubs and nightlife activism – there is always something to write about. And we are glad to keep the spirit alive this way, even though we’re all really craving for a party right now.
Artist and illustrator Nicola Napoli has also dedicated some of his time during the lockdown to work on a new nightlife-related piece. He’s blessed us already with various party-themed artworks in the past, but his most notable work might be the iconic line at Berghain that he first came out with back in 2014. It was one of our most successful articles of the time and it prompted a collaborative event and exhibition that we hosted together with him showcasing a new elaborate 10-meter long artwork.

Tarot cards, zodiac signs or Turkish coffee cups won’t tell me how to find the perfect boyfriend in Berlin or a job or a flat. None of these ancient traditions can be used as a measurement of destiny here in this town. Because when you live in Berlin the normal rules don’t apply. You have to create your own faith no matter what. And sometimes this faith will bring you to strange places like the darkrooms of Berghain.
Some visitors might not see the magic that is spelled all over the former heating station situated in Friedrichshain. Others cannot let go of all the energy of this place and have to go there over and over again, no matter how nerve-wrecking the line and the door situation might be. And last but not least a third group uses this place as a fertile ground for imagination and creative work.
Our friend and comrade in numerous adventures Nicola Napoli was able again to translate his vision of Berghain in a unique art work. For the October 2016 flyer he created a set of incredible Tarot cards that display the classic symbols of the Tarot mysticism as Berghain visitors.
After the jump you find all the cards he created. Also you can buy three of the motives as exclusive art prints in his web shop.

The best thing about Berlin is, how it consists of cultural pieces from every part of the world. Some further some closer. Italian culture is most definitely one of the most established ones here. Our friends from Berlino Magazine, a Blog run by – and written for Italians in Berlin, decided to create an event that lets you enjoy the wonders of italian cuisine and culture for 72 hours, which is called True Italian and it happens this week Wednesday bringing you all these Italian goodies to your tastebuds. We got inspired by this and thought it is about time, we created a guide to true Italian lifestyle in Berlin just for you.
There is so much more to it than Pizza and Pasta (don’t get us wrong, they will always be our best friends). Find your way into art, music, food and fashion from Italy in Berlin.

The Berlin-based illustrator is at it again! You might know him from his iconic Berghain and nightlife illustrations that we totally fell in love with – so much, in fact, that we dedicated a whole exhibition in his honor, for which he created his biggest and most elaborate illustration to date. In his latest set of illustrations he pays tribute to the late David Bowie – a character so full of inspiration and creativity that he has influenced not only musicians and performers, but all kinds of artists all over the world. In the two new works by Nicola you can see two of Bowie’s most iconic looks: The Kansai Yamamoto outfit from the Aladdin Sane era that was inspired by Oscar Schlemmers Triadic Ballet, and the turquoise suit from the Ziggy Stardust era.

After weeks of preparations and anticipation it was finally time to reveal the Berlinferno on Saturday at Blogfabrik. Young Italian artist Nicola Napoli has created a huge artwork for the Absolut Art Bar series that is a tongue-in-cheek response to all the criticism Berlin has received lately and an interpretation of all the worries and fears that Berliners have about the changes of their city.
For this event we turned the Blogfabrik, our new co-working and event space at Kottbusser Tor, into a pink inferno full of eccentric fantastical creatures. It was so much fun to change up the place and re-use all the modular furniture, it was almost like a play-set for grown-ups. It was such a pleasure to work with Nicola who has such a creative mind and so much wit, and also with the guys from Absolut who proved yet again what a modern and progressive brand they are by letting us create a world around our idea and message. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable collaboration!
We were super happy about how everything came together in the end and how many of you showed up to the opening to have a drink with us. We also want to thank our super charming live act Heather Sparx who gave a great performance filled with her joyful synth pop tunes and lots of good energy and glitter, and of course to our DJ teams Rydim & Ricardo Esposito and Dada Disco who both played the most amazing music for us. Enjoy the photos after the jump.
