Berlin in full Bloom: Re-Openings in Spring

Berlin in full Bloom: Re-Openings in Spring

Spring has sprung! And you know what this means: Outdoor locations are becoming a thing again!

No more standing under heating lamps, clutching to your scarves. The last fluffs of your scarfs are scaling off your necks and many heads turn to other people again. With every raising degree, the core areas of the capital shift from inside to outside.

Berlin awakens in Spring. And along with it the people, the cafés, restaurants, urban parks and festivals are returning from their winter hideout. How we’ve missed the many opportunities to enjoy life under the clear sky. With Spring, all these possibilities are back!

And even better, we compiled a list of activities and locations that are back from winter hiatus and open again for you to enjoy. See them right after the jump. Read on…

+-0 Opening Photos

On Saturday the guys who ran HBC opened their new amazing space +-0 in the old Postbahnhof (which is right next to the new Postbahnhof at Ostbahnhof) in Friedrichshain. The space is huge and amazing and it was a massive event. So curious what is going to happen here for the next 3 months of its official running time (it’s only temporary). Just like the old HBC it is home to a club, restaurant and gallery space, but way bigger. Have a look at the impressions of the opening including my GIF installation “Dance, Monster!” after the jump on 2 pages.

Flamingo Opening Party Photos

Flamingo Opening

Last night the highly anticipated new club Flamingo opened underneath the S-Bahn tracks at Monbijoupark. Even though it’s done by the same makers, it’s not another Rio, or Scala, or Broken Hearts Club. It’s something new. We had loads of fun at the opening. I love those golden plant lamps! You can see some impressions of the party after the jump on two pages. Or you can check it out in person this Friday and Saturday at the official Flamingo opening weekend!

Achteinhalb Grand Opening

Achteinhalb Opening

Last Friday the new concept store Achteinhalb celebrated its grand opening at Kollwitzstr. 42. Even though the timing was unusually early for Berlin (17h) the shop was packed throughout the evening, filled with curious guests browsing through the selected pieces of Esther Perbandt, Paula Immich, JULIAANDBEN, Clarissa Labin and many more, as well as the beautiful books that perfectly complement the designer clothes. The shop is located close to Senefelder Platz and is open Monday to Saturday from 11-19h. More impressions after the jump.

Illustrative Grand Opening

Illustrative Opening

Last night saw the grand opening of the Illustrative 2009 festival at the (gorgeous) Villa Elisabeth and the party in the old church next door. I was actually not planning on covering this at all as the persistent bombarding of press releases to this event annoyed the shit out of me. But the exhibition is actually kind of awesome and I did find some crazy folks at the party worth capturing. Was there a costume theme I didn’t know of or was everybody already dressed up for the Broken Hearts Club? See a glimpse of the exhibition and impressions of the party after la jump.

One Night Stand

One Night Stand at Amano Hotel

Two weeks ago Mercedes and I went to a welcome party of the brand new Amano Hotel at Auguststrasse corner of Rosenthaler. At the entrance we were greated with a handful of condomes which pretty much suited the theme “One Night Stand”. The invite came along with a little creative challange where we were supposed to write a sexy little story about who we would like to spent a night with in that hotel and what we would be doing. The 10 best stories would get a room on that evening to spend the night. Our impressions after the jump.
