It’s that time of the year when all Paris is filled to the brim with the most beautiful men of the world. Why? It’s Paris Menswear Fashion Week. Hurray. Due to it’s inconvenient timing coinciding with Berlin Fashion Week it’s quite impossible for us to actually go there (shame!). But at least we have the pleasure of offering you some live coverage in the form of an exclusive live stream from one of the most importat shows: The Louis Vuitton Men’s Ready-to-wear collection designed by Kim Jones for Spring/Summer 2014. Enjoy it this afternoon at 14:30h here on I HEART BERLIN right after the jump.

Each year millions of visitors come to Paris. For a good reason, as the French capital is not only one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it also has a lot of sights to offer such as the Eiffel tower, the Champs-Élysées, the Sacré Coeur, the Saint Germain and the Quartier Latin. As I have been to Paris several times, I have already seen all of them. So this time, I decided to do it differently, to experience Paris without sightseeing.

Today we have our favorite label from Leipzig in our Cinéma de Mode: Howitzweissbach. They shot their latest fashion film for their 6th collection titled Icons in Paris. There is probably no better urban backdrop as the city of love. The new Spring/Summer 2013 collection is an homage to famous female icons such as Lady Di, Twiggy, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Gabor and Emilie Flöge. So it comes to no surprise that the designs incorporate a lot of iconic elements from various decades from the early to mid 20th century, all of them in a contemporary remix in shades of pastel green and beige, as well as classic black and white.
The film itself, shot by Moritz Freudenberg, has its very own character that seems to be independent from the theme of the collection. It combines the garments with the beautiful architecture of Paris, revealing the details with quirky and unexcepted movements and interesting angles. The colors of the city perfectly complement the colors scheme of the clothes, making this a visually perfect interpretation of the collection. Enjoy the film after the jump.

Trunks, art and polka-dots, how do these three things relate to each other you might wonder. The name that brings it all together is Louis Vuitton. The maison traditionelle invited us over to Paris on a show&tell with LV along with fellow bloggers Katja from LesMads, Sarah from Josie Loves, Sascha & Peter from Horstson, as well as Andy from Style Scrapbook and Carolina from Fashionsqad. In only two days we got to see the historical home of Louis Vuitton, who started his business in 1854, the studio in Asnières that still produces the famous travel trunks, the pop-up store opening for their design collaboration with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, the big Maison store at the Champs Elysees, their gallery Espace Culturel and the Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs exhibition. Follow our short but exciting trip after the jump.

We really want to say thanks to Who’s Next Paris to let us experience these amazing 5 days in Paris. We finally had the chance to check out Paris Fashion Week, see the shows of our fav Bernhard Willhelm as well as Walter van Beirendonck and Damir Doma, dance at the fabulous Flash Cocotte party, meet some great young designers at the Who’s Next fair and browse through giant vintage mountains. All things we just loved. We also had some really weird and funny experience. We saw a crazy and very entertaining catwalk fashion musical at Who’s Next, we met some giant vampire drag queens at Place de la Concorde and found a little hotel with an antique harp in the attic. So beautiful and strange! See all impressions of our lovely trip after the jump.

What a crazy night! Two vampiresque Drag Queens glamoured us in front of Place de la Concorde and brought us to an unsual place. Fantasy creatures and fashion people came together Saturday night in Paris to celebrate Flash Cocotte, a special irregular party night. For us snobby Berliners, the music would probably make us attempt suicide. But we tried to let go and have fun as much as we can. With higher alcohol consumption our French got so bad that we could not understand a single word anymore. Kisses were collected instead. And who would say no to French kissing, huh? See our party impressions and animations after the jump on 2 pages.

Most Fashion trade shows are normally not very concerned with sustainability. The way the Who’s Next Paris handled this topic was surprisingly creative: They invited the vintage store chain Hippy Market to host several sale booths all over the grounds of the fair. You could compare this store chain with Made In Berlin.
On these little Vintage islands that were embedded into the exhibition you could discover unusual and selected vintage pearls from Paris to moderate prices. I was actually so fascinated by this discovery that I spend half my day hunting from one booth to the other to find some vintage souvenirs from Paris. The philosophy of Hippy Market is exactly like my oppinion of the second-hand gold: Vintage is not only fashion with a history but also a good and affordable alternative to green fashion. See our favorite finds and some impressions after the jump.
