According to Tina Fey’s and Amy Poehler’s definition, cake is a fluffy dessert, that people usually eat on their birthdays, when they admit that they have aged. However silly it might sound, cakes can serve a lot of purposes at the same time: sometimes, they are baked to celebrate a certain occasion, whereas at times they are made to eat away our sorrow. Sometimes everything depends on the right timing. Marie Antoinette would have probably bit off her own tongue if she had known that her cake fantasies would have brought a headless future for herself. As for me, I’m wondering if writing about decadent little delicious cakes is the right thing to do in a time when should all be concerned about much more serious issues, like the hardships of some of the people in this city. But despite all that, we still would like to share with you one of the pearls of Berlin cafes.
Princess Cheesecake is a patisserie fantasy that a German lady made come true after an inspiring trip to the US. Inside the Bermuda triangle of Mitte, it makes a wonderful appearance and presents the most delicious jewel-like cakes. Just go there and enjoy it with your eyes and your mouth. And then, in the spirit of sharing and caring, donate some of your old belongings to the people in need.
