The Victory of Colors
Although gray tones are dominating our German summer, on the catwalks of last Fashion Week explosions of color have been praised with applause. Marc Jacobs was also impressed with the color-blocking and honored designer Alexandra Kiesel with the prestigious award of Peek and Cloppenburg’s Design for Tomorrow. The present host and judge of the contest turned out to be warm and very accessible, very open and cheerful. Maybe it was not only the color but also the unique and flawless execution of the collection which helped Alexandra Kiesel to victory. Marc Jacobs put the focus on sellability. So the more experimental design talents such as Magdalena Stark from last year’s finalists have been missing in the show. Nonetheless, Designers for Tomorow is still one of my highlights of Fashion Week. More insights into the winner’s collection after the jump. The entire video for the show is available here.
