Berlin Goods: Pieces of Berlin Book

Berlin Goods: Pieces of Berlin Book

Pieces of Berlin is one of the truely unique and charming fellow Berlin blogs that has been around since 2009 now. Photographer Florian Reischauer captures the people and places of this city in a very understated and modest way showing ordinary people instead of fashionable hipsters and ordinary places instead of fancy shops and cool clubs. With this he manages to give Berlin a very natural and approachable look, far away from the gloss and hype it so often appears to have.

With the success of the blog it was a logical choice for Florian to turn it into a photobook – the result is a beautiful compilation of his work of the past 4 years. The crowdfunded product comes in a 208 page limited hard cover edition of 1000 copies for only 27 EUR and really looks amazing. A perfect Berlin gift and a true gem in our Berlin Goods series. After the jump you’ll find some of my favorite photos from the Pieces of Berlin blog and a preview of the book.

The Weekly Event Guide

Belin at Stroke

This is Berlin Art Week. I admit I dread those Berlin Something Weeks because that means a hell of a lot of events to go through for this guide and not enough time to go to all the things that sound interesting. But I think I’ve managed to sum up some interesting ones for you, though I will have to publish them in two stages starting with the ones earlier in the week. I would also like to refer you to some other art-related blogs and websites that will give you further insights and coverage: Castor & Pollux, Artfridge, ArtBerlin, Bpigs, Berlin Artparasites and artconnect Berlin. Have fun with all the art, but remember not to touch anything with your sticky fingers… The event guide – part 1 after the jump.
