The Weekly Event Guide

JULIAANDBEN SS11

The DMY International Design Festival Berlin has become quite the major event in the past few years. The main festival at the Flughafen Tempelhof with numorous satellite events all over the city is therefore quite dominantly featured in this weeks event guide. Another highlight is definately the new store opening of one of my favorite Berlin labels JULIAANDBEN. More events and parties after the jump.

Frank, Suz and Gaga

So, last Tuesday the mega-hype that is going on amoungst most of my friends graced Berlin with her presence. I’m talking about no other than Lady Gaga off-of crazy popstar and style icon fame. It’s funny, everytime I speak about her with my father he looks at me in total disbelieve. There are just some things beyond his understanding, haha!

Of course I was the first one to buy a ticket for her show, not expecting that some more patient people would get tickets for a fourth of the price right in front of the concert. Damn! But what I saw was worth every penny. A mega show with the craziest stage, hottest dancers, cooles video projections and what not. Oh, and Lady Gaga was pretty cool, too. Not so much for her singing and dancing skills, but for the crazy shit she was saying in between the songs. And of course for her cheasy yet totally awesome songs! Haha, I am not ashamed to confess I like her music!

As Suz and I have featured POSH!, one of her dancers who lives in Berlin, on iHeartBerlin.de here many times, he was so kind to invite us to the private after show party at Lab.oratory, the sexclub at Berghain. We didn’t really know that we were both invited until we ran into each other at the party. But after the jump you can read more on the party from Suz…

Posh! Up

Posh! the Prince by Lisa Wassmann for Scala

photo by Lisa Wassmann for Scala

Yesterday evening Posh! the Prince, a performance artist from NY who now lives in Berlin, amazed his audience again at Torstrasse 96 with a show full of sexual hints. He performes with a DJ and if the crowd is in the mood, it is a very danceable performance. Posh moans and screams and fakes an orgasm – he probably has one, cause one can see, he clearly enjoys performing. It’s not Posh’s show, Posh is the show. Even when the mic broke down last night he improvised and performed in top form. Last night he was wearing a tiny strappy silver something that he had handtailored by a friend especially for his performances. “I can either use it as a belt or as a corset” he told me after the show. And it is only Posh! the Prince himself with the slim shaped body of a ballet dancer who can wear hotpants and this silver thing on him and make girls and boys feel hot and hotter. More photos of the night after the jump.

Last Thursday the .HBC celebrated the opening of another one of their exhibitions. This time Rommelo Yu showed one of his Ballwalls downstairs and upstairs 6 rooms with a series of video pieces were on view. We took the time to check out quite of few of the films and there really were some gems amongst them. Come midnight the whole event transformed into a hot party with a live performance of Posh the Prince and more. Some impressions after the jump.
