Whenever I speak with people who tell me about their plan to move to Berlin I always listen to their stories patiently before sharing my enthusiasm about the city that will make them want to come here even more. But very often I also give them some cautionary advice about the city. We all know the stories how easy it is to get lost here. It’s a feel-good-place with many possibilities to have fun and get distracted from what you actually came here for. And before you know it you start subletting your WG-Zimmer to tourists, crash at your friends’ places and spend your rent money every weekend on drinks, drugs and club entrances. Your German classes, internship applications and uni enrollment will be quickly forgotten. Berlin is such a temptress in that way.
For me this whole concept of getting lost in the Berlin is perfectly captured in the new video by Rangleklods. You see a lot of the mentioned Berlin lifestyle in it and it’s obvious how it’s on the one side very cool, tempting and sexy, but on the other side also a little destructive and dangerous. The man behind the band started out a few years back here in Berlin but has since then relocated to his home country in Denmark and added another vocalist to the team. Maybe the video to “Lost U” is a little homage to his time in Berlin? I’m only guessing… Enjoy the video after the jump.

His concert at Festsaal Kreuzberg earlier this year was a smash! From an unknown Danish vocal electro musician performing modestly in Neuköllner cellar clubs Rangleklods has developed immensely as a performing artist. He has almost developed an eccentric attitude on stage, which I love! Today I want to show you his new music video Control. Enjoy, after the jump.

When I first found out about young Danish musician Rangleklods back in 2010 his music felt like a revelation to me. The combination of these original electronic dance sounds and his crystal clear, beautiful voice was like perfection in my ears. Back then he only had a couple of songs out, but by now he has also released his first EP Home and debut album titled Beekeeper. Both have received international releases this year and so I felt I should give him another nod here on iHeartBerlin. Convince yourself of his great talent after the jump.

It’s been a very long time since my musical G-spot has been tickled as intensely as the music of Rangleklods does. I was pointed to the newly Berlin-based act from Denmark just recently and I have been addicted to his songs ever since. Pulsating beats, disturbing sounds and embedded into it the crystal clear beautiful voice of Esben Andersen, the man behind the project. When asked about the meaning of his weird band name he explains:
“The name is really sort of an anti-name. The thing is that I didn’t want a name that made people think of a specific object/situation/whatever, because I think it influences the way the music is listened to. When I talk to people about it, it seems that everyone puts some sort of meaning that suits them personally into the name – and that’s exactly what I hoped would happen. It’s not even a word in Danish, but that said, it does have a personal meaning for me, but none that would make any sense to other people.”
After the jump you can listen to a couple of his wonderful songs, “Young and dumb” being my absolute favorite. This Friday he will perform live as the support of Shameless Limitless at West Germany.
