Bodi Bill are one of the few Berlin-based bands that I would refer to as local heroes. In fact their following here is so strong that they had to add two extra shows to their concert on April 28 at Lido. (The one on April 26 is the only one you can still get tickets for.)
The first Bodi Bill song I ever consciously listened to was Hotel, the preview track of their new album What?. It tickled a lot of my nerves and I was more then eager to hear the rest of the record. And I was not disappointed! It’s a bit hard to describe the music. Electro indie pop sounds not cool enough for this band. But it definately describes the elements that you will find in their music. Hotel for me is definately one of the strongest songs on the record, but my favoriteby far is the closing track Friends, an absolute stunner of a song!
After the jump you can see the beautiful video to the quirky new single Brand New Carpet. What? comes out on March 18th 2011, which is… today! Hurrah!

The release party of the new book Modestrecke written by the girls who founded Germany’s biggest fashion blog LesMads was of course an absolut must on my list of events during Berlin Fashion Week. As Saturday was my day for showrooms and pop-up shops (which there were plenty of) I only made it to the final 15 minutes of the event. But that was enough to congratulate the charming ladies Julia Knolle and Jessica Weiß, meet the lovely Schnati for the first time and purchase my signed copy of the book. Impressions of the release party after the jump.

Johan Potma
This Saturday Friedrichshain-based artists Johan Potma and Mateo Dineen are inviting everyone to join their book release party at the Zozoville Gallery. Make Believe is their first publication in the shape of a book and it’s released by Onkel&Onkel. I have been following the two artists on iHeart now since this blog exists and I love their little monsters like on the first day. Read an early interview with Mateo here. A preview of the book, their new calendar and details to the release party right after the jump. Both the book and the calendar can be pre-ordered here.

Tori Amos has been a constant part of my life for over 10 years now. Over time her voice has grown so familiar that it somehow became a second mother to me. With all her releases since my first album of her she has never let me down. I loved every one of them – some of them more, some of them less. Her new record Abnormally Attracted To Sin will probably be filed under the later category. I’ve been listening to it for a while now, but although I generally enjoy the songs none of them really managed to stand out so far. The album seems to lack a bit of a concept and for me all the songs on it sound like they each belong to some of her previous records. So in a way this one is like time traveling to the past.
But along with this album I did find something else that really stood out: A comic anthology called Comic Book Tattoo with stories from many different artists based on the songs of Tori Amos. This way I can finally make sense of some of her crazy lyrics. This really is a beautiful book. And I’m someone who is generally not so much into comics. More images after the jump.
UPDATE: Tori finally announced tour dates for Germany. She will play in Berlin on October 7th at Tempodrom.
