Squat House – Dandy Diary Fashion Week Party Photos

Squat House – Dandy Diary Fashion Week Party Photos

What a night this was! Once again the Dandy Diary Fashion Week Opening was the hottest party in town. For us it was also special because the Dandy boys took over the former Scala, a club that we have visited, featured and photographed from the first to its last day here on the blog and that we were quite fond of. It was the perfect match for the theme of the party: Punks in a squat house. And the guests took this really seriously dressing up in their kinkiest and punkiest outfits. It was great fun to take pictures here and after the click a massive photo set awaits you on 3 pages!

Kunstnacht at Berlinische Galerie

Kunstnacht 09 at Berlinische Galerie

Last Saturday the Berlinische Galerie celebrated the Kunstnacht 09 with a party organized by the maker of Scala and Rio. The exhibition is massive and as I didn’t have the time to fully see all of it I will have to go there again some time. The party, although it didn’t even go through the whole night, was quite fun actually, especially when the people started to play with the giant pink balls and donuts during the concert of Paris Suit Yourself. Impressions after the jump.

Goodbye Scala

Scala Closing Party

The official closing party of the beloved Scala club actually must have been one of its best I can remember. I was a bit afraid that it would be too full, but as though it was steamy and hot it wasn’t as packed. So it was still perfectly enjoyable. Of course we took the chance to make our very last Scala party photos and you will probably see a lot of familiar faces of all the loyal friends of this wonderful place. We all had a great time! Farewell, dear Scala. More after the jump.

On Thursday a few thousand years ago, holy Jesus went up into his father’s arms. Let’s celebrate and let the music lift you up to heights, too. Scala has its last weekend, it’s so sad, but the rumours say that maybe relentless Conny soon has a new thing going on somewhere in Wedding. Amen and stuff.

Indie action on Wednesday at Magnet Club with Dj sets by Sugarplum Fairy who will sail beyond doubt, Nachlader and many more!! At Ballhaus Berlin number six of the Big Bajoo Nights is gonna take place tonight. For more infos and more parties take a look after the jump.

It’s a Disco Mystery

Here is the weekend’s party programme for those of you who have been waiting for it like a cat on hot bricks. If you think about going to Scala, be prepared for some body to body action with strangers, because last Saturday it has been so crowded, people told me they thought they’d get mashed like a banana. This is probably because the news of Scala’s closing has now reached all of you and it seems every single person now wants to go there. Even those who will go there for the first time are later gonna say that they went to Scala every weekend and Scala will be a myth like the Rio already is.

On Friday another very French Disco Mystix party is up. After a successful night with really good music at Picknick, this time it’s getting mystical at Scala with Heartbreak live and Les Titz Grands also live and Emil doesn’t drive, Total Eclipse of the heart and more more more. Oh, there is a dresscode, look at the flyer to read more about it. Before the party you should go and visit the Scala gallery from 7 pm and get some art, you philistine! More parties after the jump.

Scala’s Last Month

Scala

Oh no! Everything’s changing… buhu!

There have been rumours before but now it’s official: At the end of the month Scala closes for good. There were different views on the old house and the party nights taking place there. Kids place, tourist place, rave club… But apart from the disgusting toilets and a very slow wardrobe it was not only me who loved this place. And I’d rather celebrate a party with a crowd of kids than with boring oldies moaning all night, but never move away from the bar… That guy at the door, named Krazy, used to look scary but there was no need to wet your pants, cause as a matter of fact, Scala never had a ridiculous selection at the doors. Furthermore this place was also suitable for claustrophobics like me since it has two dancefloors.

As a “natural born Berliner” I can remember some parties that took place at the Scala building already during the 90s and I am a bit sad about its closing. In the end money rules and this house directly at Oranienburger Tor is a place to make money with. I don’t have facts about the new renters, I can only guess it will be another bank. Oh sh… I already use the past tense, but there is still this month and especially the upcoming weekend to dance off your shoes at Scala.

The parties for this weekend after the jump!

A Nightmare on Friedrichstrasse

Nightmare on Friedrichstrasse at Scala

When I started this blog I never really had the intention to publish party photos. But after my first party post about the Wild Renate was so successful I figured it’d be smart to do more of that. Obviously this is something the people are interested in. So I took my digital camera out with me every once in a while to make some crappy pictures that required a lot of heavy photoshopping until they looked okay to be published. Since I got my first SLR camera earlier this year the quality of the photos really got bumped up a bit and with my last three sets I have the feeling that I’m really getting better at this. Wow, just imagine how it will be when I’m able to use more then just the automatic mode of my camera, ha ha!

I think it’s funny that I’m still being asked permission to use those photos of the Wild Renate by inflight magazines and mainstream newspapers. Everytime I say no and ask them to take a look around on the blog as there is way better material to be found, like the latest pictures from the Nightmare on Friedrichstrasse III party at Scala from Saturday that you can find more of after the click.
