Imagine you are sitting in a secret bar in Berlin, between hundreds of candles and listening to atmospheric sounds. A person dressed all in black accompanies you to an old closet. Inside is a hidden door that leads you into an ancient cellar of the building. At the end of this corridor, you find yourself in another world – deep inside the heads of 10 artists who lead you through a dark labyrinth of their imagination… The path through the darkness leads you back to the red bar, while the experiences in the darkness fade into a dream.
Following the huge success of the group exhibitions “The Darkrooms” and “Lost Art Festival” the makers of these shows are bringing you a brand new underground art experience from March 23 – April 3, 2022: “Himmel unter Berlin” (Sky Under Berlin) takes you on a journey into the underground of Berlin, to a secret place that will vanish forever once the show is over.

A new, exceptionally nice speakeasy bar called ROOK opened a few weeks ago in a place where you, dear readers, would probably least expect it: in an old water tower in Cologne. Yes, you’ve read it right – it’s not about Berlin today, but about a thing that we in Berlin are especially crazy about: secret bars in hidden locations.
In a world of the Internet and smartphones, where all information is constantly accessible, the concept of speakeasy bars is more attractive than ever. It’s no wonder, since nothing tastes sweeter than a secret that you only share with a few people. We’ve known that this rule applies to the club and bar scene for ages.
That’s why it’s totally understandable that also the ROOK team decided in favor of such an idea. A few months ago, Luisa und Rike entered the Shape Your City competition organized by the international premium beer brand Heineken with their own bar concept. They managed to win over the Jury, composed of, among others, the restaurateurs Philipp Treudt and Tobias Mintert, as well as our Berlin blogger-colleagues from Dandy Diary. ROOK is the result of a cooperation with Heineken and celebrated its opening on the 18th November 2016. This coming Friday, the Dandy Diary members of the jury are going to throw a party in the location that they’ve helped to single out. More about that later in the text!

When I walked into the Boulangerie François last night to try the delicious French bread and vodka-infused jam I had no idea that the cute vintage bakery was only a front for a secret bar. This was a really great surprise! I entered through a secret door covered as an oven into a chic bar full of beautiful things and beautiful people. And of course there were amazing cocktails, as this was an event by luxurious vodka label Grey Goose.
For only 4 nights this stunning looking bar will be here in Berlin hosting a string of exclusive events. It’s unfortunately not public, only the bakery is open for everyone where you can get the bread and infused jams. But for Friday we have 3×2 tickets for the closing party and I definitely recommend you to try your luck here. To take part in the raffle go over to our previous post, we have extended the deadline until Thursday evening. For some impressions of the secret bar have a look after the jump.

A picnic in a beautiful park always has something very mundane. You feel a little like in the old days where you drove to the country-side in a coach and sat on a white or red-checked picnic blanket. There were times when the team of iheartberlin was more inclined to those kind of amusements. Apparently these times will return, thanks to Lands’ End Canvas, who has invited us to a mysterious picnic in the park where we get the chance to change some of our old garments with the new Canvas collection. For that they have already sent us the most important accessory: a picnic basket. Because they have also thought of our readers, you get the chance to win a second picnic basket including two invitations to the Canvas Picnic. How to win this nice present you can read after the jump.
